Forever/long term fosters 💜
As some of you may know, we do sometimes have a need for some of our cats to go to forever or long-term fosters. These cats are usually prevented from being adopted out as normal, due to some underlying health conditions, age related conditions or sometimes they are just too shy and need more socialising.
With our forever/long-term fosters, we provide any vet related treatment at our expense and sometimes help with food and litter, although we do expect the foster to supply this also. You get the benefit of having a cat or cats, without the worry of any vet expenses that may crop up. Here are examples of some of our forever/long term fosters.
First we have kitty, our very sweet Himalayan Persian. Kitty is an older girl who was in a bit of a state when she came to us. She had to be completely shaved due to very painful matted fur and has some arthritis issues. Kitty is now loving life with her new forever family, and as you can see, she now has a new best friend in the fosters daughter, who she absolutely worships 🥹
Next we have Jasper (and Luna 🫢). Jasper also came to us in terrible condition with severe dental issues. He has now had every tooth removed due to feline tooth resportion, which is extremely painful and sadly more common in Siamese breeds. Joining Jasper in his forever foster is Luna. Luna came to us heavily pregnant and had to undergo an emergency C section due to birthing complications, where she sadly lost 3 of her kittens 😓 although Luna is completely healthy, she was in the same foster home as Jasper and they now have the perfect love/hate relationship, so we don't want to split them up. It's become a race to see who can get in their mum's knee first when she comes home. (As you can see from the photo, Jasper won that time 🫢)
Then we have Hazel (and her sister Harper). These little sisters came to us last year and were available for adoption, however Hazel (Calico) started displaying health issues and was referred to Leahurst vets. Scans sadly couldn't pinpoint an exact diagnosis although we know it's a heart issue. So she is now living her best life, along with her sister (black and white) and her big brothers, Dave the tuxedo cat and Milo the dog. Here they are from last Christmas with the perfect Christmas family photo 😊
These wonderful cats are all living happily in their forever homes thanks to their foster families, who we are extremely thankful for.
