🚀 NASC 2026 – 18 Photos, One Incredible Camp ✈️

Three members of 17 (Coningsby) Squadron took on this year’s National Air & Space Camp (NASC) — and these photos only scratch the surface of what they experienced.

From aircraft engineering and flying to air traffic control, space exploration, STEM challenges and some seriously unique aviation opportunities, NASC gave our cadets an incredible insight into the breadth of the aerospace world.

Here’s a look at some of the highlights from Cdt Dyson, Sgt Wilson-Dakin and CWO Faulconbridge:

The Team
Three cadets, countless experiences, and plenty of memories made at NASC.

Scroll through each photo to learn about what they got up to.

🚀 17 Squadron on National Air and Space Camp! So far… ✈️

National Air & Space Camp (NASC) has been an action-packed camp for our three cadets, with each taking on a very different side of aviation and aerospace.

🔧 Cdt Dyson has been getting hands-on with aircraft engineering, taking part in mechanical workshops involving the Grob G 109 Vigilant T1, alongside flying in a Grob Tutor today! A fantastic opportunity to understand how an aircraft is built and maintained while experiencing aviation from both the ground and the air.

🛩️ Sgt Wilson-Dakin has been immersed in Air Operations, exploring everything from air navigation and radar control to air traffic control and rotary-wing flying. He even had the incredible opportunity to experience flying an F-35B Lightning — certainly a highlight of the camp!

His Air Operations training follows yesterday’s challenge at BAE Systems, where he worked alongside two French cadets to design and construct a prototype drone while working within strict material, budget, and time constraints. Their team came out on top and took home the win! 🏆

🎓 CWO Faulconbridge has been continuing his duties as a Qualified Aerospace Instructor (QAI), delivering instruction in the Air Operations suite. He has been teaching cadets how Air Traffic Control works from both sides of the radio — exploring the perspectives of both the pilot and controller.

Three cadets, three very different experiences, and countless opportunities to learn. NASC continues to showcase just how broad the world of aerospace really is. 👏

The partial eclipse has captivated our cadets and staff tonight with these superb images.

Last night, the cadets discovered what an eclipse is, how it happens and how to safely view it from the ground in preparation for tonight's main event.

They even made their own eclipse devices!
