Rotary Club of Comber

Rotary Club of Comber We are the Rotary Club of Comber - a happy, busy club, mixing interesting projects with entertaining outings. Phone or message for meeting details.

We meet on 1st and 3rd Mondays every month at 6pm in McBride's on the Square, Comber and also via Zoom. As one of the most active clubs in Ireland, we're known to punch above our weight. We focus on projects to help young people of all ages in our community, running competitions for young musicians, photographers, cooks and writers. We support school groups interested in environmental projects. Lo

cal secondary school leavers depend on us to give them practice in job interviews. We've run health education projects in primary schools, helped to integrate new arrivals in our community and arranged fund-raising events for local charities. We're always on the look out for practicalities to help those in need at home and overseas.

We enjoyed a fantastic evening of music at the Young Musician final last Saturday. As our presenter David Maxwell (left of photo) observed, with so much bad news around, these young performers give us hope for the future. Also pictured are Richard Yarr, our adjudicator, and Hannah Dallas from Isio, who presented the prizes. Congratulations to all for such an inspiring event.

We were very impressed last Saturday with the playing of Saoirse Rippon at the final of the Young Musician competition. Saoirse, a pupil at Victoria College, delivered a sensitive perfomance of Chaminade's Concertino for flute. She won the prize for the most promising Junior performer - definitely a talent to look out for in the future! Saoirse is pictured with adjudicator Richard Yarr.
