Celebrating 40 Years of Service Above Self
This weekend we were proud to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Comber Rotary Club, marking four decades of friendship, fellowship and service to our local community and beyond.
It was wonderful to welcome members, founding members, partners, friends and guests from Newtownabbey and Belfast Rotary Clubs as we reflected on the club's rich history through photographs, memories and achievements spanning forty years.
From initiatives such as CODAC (drug awareness), the Young Musician Competition, the Ards Airshow, Mental Health, Remembrance Tree and to countless fundraising and community projects, our members have made a lasting difference to many lives. Much of this work was carried out during some of Northern Ireland's most challenging years, making these achievements all the more remarkable.
A special highlight of the celebration was recognising the outstanding dedication of our long-serving members:
Cyril Johnston, George Pigott and Andy Hamilton– 30 years of Rotary service each. Roy Service and Ronnie White – 40 years of Rotary service each
Together, these five members have contributed an incredible 170 years of service to Rotary and the community. We thank them for their commitment, leadership and friendship.
We also extend our sincere thanks to the spouses, partners and families who have supported our members over the years. Their encouragement and understanding have played an important part in everything the club has achieved.
We were delighted to receive messages from many former members who were unable to attend but shared fond memories and warm wishes for the future.
As we celebrate our first 40 years, we look forward to building on this legacy, welcoming new members and continuing to serve our community for many years to come.
