Centre of Sign-Sight-Sound (COS) provides a range of services for people who are Deaf, deafened, deafblind, hard of hearing or living with some form of sensory loss throughout North Wales. Our services are currently delivered across the Local Authority areas of Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Wrexham and Powys. y of life for Deaf people and people with an acquired hearing loss by promoting/facilitating equity of access to goods, services, education and employment enabling them to lead independent lives and realise their full potential. The Centre of Sign-Sight-Sound
has the organisational purpose of Promoting, developing and causing to be provided appropriate facilities, services and resources to improve the quality of life and equality of opportunities for Deaf people and people with sensory loss. Promoting a world where sensory loss does not limit, preclude or stigmatise people from achieving their full potential
Our services we are aimed at ensuring deaf/sensory loss people have equal access to statutory, voluntary and private sector service provision and are able to remain living Independently in their own homes for the longest time possible. These services include:
Communication Support Service For D/deaf people/people living hearing/sensory loss, promoting their equal access to services, education, training and employment by facilitating effective and appropriate communication. These services are provided on a face to face basis and via a digital platform through our DAISY (Digital Access Interpreting System) Service. Community Access Services
The Community Access Support Service combines the Information, Advice and Advocacy Service, the Deaf Access Project, Community Voice, Accessible Health Liaison Service and the BSL Media Clip Service, ensuring people who are Deaf or living with a Sensory Loss are able to access the service they need in their chosen language. Online, remotely or face to face, we can assist members of the Community with a wide range of issues, from making a GP appointment to carrying out benefit checks; and to Service Providers to ensure they are meeting their responsibilities under the Social Services and Wellbeing Act. Community Resource and Rehabilitation Service
Assistive technologies can enable people to remain living as independently as possible in their own homes. The Resource and Rehabilitation Service can carry out needs assessments, provision (either statutory or self purchasing) and arrange follow up visits to ensure the equipment is satisfactory and being utilised to its full potential.
