Feed back from a Day River Fishing C.W.A.C River
Long awaited session on the Colne and Pendle waters!
A couple of hours in the morning on the charming little Colne water upstream from Ball Grove Park, very tricky in bright sunshine and gusting wind with barely a trickle of water in runs between the shrunken pools! Not many fish moving.
I fished a tiny PTN and olive emerger dry in alternation on a long leader, brought a few little trout up and a much bigger one but failed to connect!
After a break for lunch I drove down to Barrowford and had a couple of hours on the lower stretch behind the college. More flow here and nice deep pools, much more urban but some very nice fish rising to large brook duns.
Still tough going, putting most fish down on the 1st cast, but after extending my leader to 16ft I managed a couple of trout and surprisingly a nice grayling (I didn't know they were this far up the system!! )
All in all a most enjoyable and interesting day!
Will try another session but probably after some substantial water!!
