Glenda took us through the Age UK website this morning and gave us plenty of tips for getting online and staying safe online.
Helen also shared with us her experience of playing Wordfeud and how she has played with the same lady in the US for the past 12 years!
Word and number games are a great way to keep our minds active - do let us know if you enjoy any of the ones recommended. I have listed below some of the ones shared by our folks this morning:

💖This Thursday (18th June) is our closing Young at Heart for the season….. why not join us for our ‘Techno Facts and Fun’.

We’ll aim to help with any issues you might have on your phone settings, hopefully get everyone set up on WhatsApp, and also look at some apps and fun games you can easily access.

Already know your way around all of this?….. just come along for the craic and cakes!

💖 Thursday was just one of those extra special mornings at Young at Heart for our LIFE IN JAPAN topic. We had invited our church teaching elder
John Mark Mullin and his dad Robert to tell us of their links with Japan and it was a fascinating tale. We heard how Robert’s parents (Leonard and Agnes) first went to Japan as missionaries just after WW2, Robert’s journey as a young man to return there, stories of John Mark’s childhood in Japan and much of the culture of the country.
Robert also treated us to a few bars of ‘Green Green Grass of Home’ - Tom Jones Japanese style 🎶.

We are delighted to have our MCF church staff member, John Mark Mullan and his father Robert with us this Thursday (21st) when they will tell us all about life in Japan. The family lived and worked in Japan for many years and John Mark and his dad went back to visit in recent years.
Come along on Thursday and learn about the Japanese culture - and enjoy your elevenses with us!

This Thursday (30th) is our Young at Heart drop-in. It’s a chance to just sit around with a cuppa and catch up with everyone. Join us at the Sandel Centre 10:30-12:00 - there’s no program, just come and go as you please! 💖

Community Rescue Service Northern District

Community Rescue Service were our chosen charity to learn about and support this year. Margaret shared with us about the work of these amazing volunteers - work which is often going on when the general public isn’t even aware. In order to protect the privacy of those involved rescues are not promoted or publicised so it was an eye opener to hear of the number of call-outs and rescues even just our local volunteers are involved in!
We raised an amazing £425 so thank you everyone for your generosity in supporting our charity day.

******** CHARITY SUPPORT DAY **********

Come along to Young at Heart this Thursday (16th) when we’ll be joined by representatives of Causeway Community Search and Rescue.
We will get to hear about the work carried out by our local volunteer group - and we also have the opportunity to ‘give back’ and support this amazing local charity.
We meet 10:30 - 12:00 at the Sandel Centre - we’d love to have you join us!

If you’ve never been to a YAH quiz day you don’t know what you’re missing!! 🤣
Jean opened the day with some timely interesting facts about St Patrick-a mini quiz to set the tone.
Reggie came well prepared with 6 rounds of 10 questions - got us all thinking but a lot of fun and laughs thrown in 🤣

We pack a lot into 90 minutes -so of course there was time for tea, scones and friendly chatter.
So …until next month …..see you back with us on
16th April 10:30 -12:00.

This Thursday (19th) is our quiz day - don’t miss out on this very popular date in our Young at Heart calendar! It’s a lot of fun but also a chance to pick up some interesting facts and learn something new.
Reggie sets the questions and certainly makes us work for our tea!
