We offer emergency help & ongoing support to people on the North Coast who are struggling to afford the essentials & need help to get back on their feet. We offer emergency help and ongoing support to people experiencing poverty living in the north coast. Our team is here to offer practical and emotional support to people in the Causeway community who are struggling to afford the essentials and need help to get back on their feet. Our community-based projects include:
> Emergency Food through our Causeway Food Bank
> Clothing & Household Essentials at the Marketplace
> Access to low-cost food at the RESET social supermarket
> Free Debt advice at the CAP Debt Centre
> Donation Based Counselling from our professional Compassion
> Counselling team
> Link Logs social enterprise
> Monthly Vineyard Market

Our Impact
The demand for our services has never been greater. In 2023 Vineyard Compassion supported 3624 clients (48% increase on the previous year). We distributed 33.5 tonnes of food and provided 442 households with clothes through the Open Door. Our CAP Debt Centre supported 47 client families, 170 people received budgeting support and 6 families became debt free. We also facilitated 2100 counselling session which was a massive 126% increase from 2022. A huge thank you to New Row Presbyterian, Coleraine, St Paul’s, Articlave and Christ Church, Castlerock for their incredible Harvest donations to our Foodbank. 🙌

Your generosity will make a real difference to local people facing hardship.

As we head through Harvest season, we'd love to encourage other churches to consider supporting the Foodbank. Our shelves are running low due to a significant increase in local people needing emergency food, and September was our busiest month of the year.

Sometimes circumstances change quickly, and many people find themselves carrying burdens they never expected. If you're struggling to make ends meet, feeling overwhelmed, or worried about what comes next, please know you're not alone.

We sometimes have an image in our heads of what a foodbank user looks like. But the reality is much broader.

At Causeway Foodbank, we're supporting people receiving benefits who are struggling to make ends meet – but we're also increasingly seeing working families and households where two people are working.

People who are working, paying their bills and doing everything they can, but simply can't make their income stretch far enough - Rent. Energy. Transport. Food.
Sometimes the numbers just don't add up.

That's why foodbank support matters. And that's why keeping our shelves stocked matters. Because food insecurity can affect people in ways we don't always see.

Our shelves are emptying faster than they’re filling.

That’s the reality Phil Drummond, our Provisions Manager, is seeing every week at Causeway Foodbank.
Donations are currently struggling to keep pace with the number of food parcels going out to local families, and some of our most-used items are critically low.

As we head into autumn, we’re asking our community to help us fill those shelves back up.

If you're doing your weekly shop, could you add one or two of the items we urgently need?

Right now, we're particularly looking for:
🥫 Tinned meat
🥕 Tinned vegetables
🍑 Tinned fruit
🍅 Tinned tomatoes
🍚 Rice
🍝 Pasta sauces
🥛 Long-life milk
🧴 Shampoo
🧴 Deodorant

Small donations make a big difference when a whole community gives together.
📍 Donations can be dropped at the Hope Centre, 10 Hillmans Way, Coleraine, or at participating Trussell collection points in local supermarkets.

Help us make sure that when someone comes through our doors needing food, we have something there to give them.

We are Hiring!

We have 4 roles available to join our Vineyard Compassion team. The job descriptions for some of these roles have been updated since previously advertised, so they are worth a second look.

1. Provisions Coordinator (part-time)
2. Donations and Warehouse Cordinator (part time)
3. Facilities and Link Supervisor (new role!)
4. Fundraising manager (updated JD)

We would love to welcome you to our team. The closing dates for all of these roles is Monday 14th September 9am, so make your application this weekend!
