📣 WE’RE RECRUITING – DEMENTIA SUPPORT WORKERS

Dementia Concern Causeway is looking for caring, enthusiastic people to support people living with dementia across the Causeway Coast and Glens area.

We have two opportunities available:

🔹 Maternity Cover: 3 days per week, totalling 21 hours.

🔹 Sessional Staff: Flexible work as and when required to cover staff absences and annual leave. No guaranteed weekly hours, and cover may be needed at short notice.

Both roles involve supporting our dementia groups and one-to-one sessions in people’s homes, providing companionship, social interaction and meaningful activities.

No personal care is involved.

We are looking for people with experience of working with people living with dementia and older people, a warm and patient approach, and a commitment to helping people stay connected and involved in their communities.

📢 WE’RE RECRUITING – SESSIONAL DEMENTIA SUPPORT STAFF

Dementia Concern Causeway is looking to build a small team of sessional staff to provide cover for staff annual leave and other absences across our dementia support services.

This is a flexible, as-and-when-needed role, with no set weekly hours. Cover may sometimes be required at short notice, so we are looking for people who can offer some flexibility.

💙 The role will involve:
• Providing cover at our 2-hour Dementia Support Groups across the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough
• Supporting people living with dementia to take part in meaningful and enjoyable activities
• Providing companionship, reassurance and person-centred support
• Helping to create a welcoming, safe and supportive environment

👥 We are looking for people who:
• Have experience or a good understanding of dementia
• Have experience working with older people
• Are caring, patient, reliable and approachable
• Can work in a person-centred way
• Are flexible and may be available at short notice

This could be an ideal opportunity for someone with experience in **health and social care, dementia services or older people’s services** who is looking for occasional flexible work.

🎶💙IMPORTANT UPDATE – DEMENTIA WELLBEING CHOIR💙🎶

Please note that there has been a CHANGE OF DAY for our Dementia Wellbeing Choir in Ballysally.

📅 Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 9th September.
📅 The choir will then meet every WEDNESDAY
⏰ 2:30pm – 3:30pm
📍 St Andrew’s, Ballysally

Our choir is all about enjoying music, having fun, sharing plenty of laughs and spending time together. 🎵

People living with dementia and their family members/carers are very welcome to come along and join us.

💙 No singing experience needed – just come along and enjoy yourself!

💙 Dementia Café – Everyone Welcome 💙

Join us every Wednesday from 2:30pm – 4:00pm at the Methodist Welcome Centre, Queen Street, Coleraine.

Our Dementia Café offers a friendly, relaxed space for people living with dementia, their families, friends, and carers to meet, chat, enjoy refreshments, and find support in good company.

Whether you come along for conversation, companionship, or simply a cuppa, you’ll always receive a warm welcome. ☕💙

📚💙 As Age Friendly Champion for Causeway Coast and Glens, I warmly welcome the OCN NI Level 2 Award in Awareness of Dementia to Northern Regional College’s programme.

Greater understanding of dementia can make a real difference to people living with the condition and their families. Helping people feel understood, included and supported is so important in creating an age friendly borough.

This course is a valuable opportunity to build knowledge and confidence, exploring the different types of dementia, its signs and symptoms and how individual experiences can vary.

Eligible companies can receive up to 90% funding towards training costs through the Skills Focus Programme.
