Causeway Coast Dog Rescue Every dog deserves a second chance. Rescuing and rehoming dogs in your area. Tel 07595 602 702. We do not believe in destroying a healthy dog.

We are a non- profit organisation dedicated to the re-homing of unwanted dogs. We originally started as a group of volunteers 14 years ago and became a registered charity in 2002. All dogs that come to the centre are accessed to gauge their temperament and personality, and we make sure to have all this info before we let the public see a dog. We also organise fund raising events such as organised dog walks, car boot sales, bag packing and so on. All monies raised are used to feed the animals and to provide veterinary care. At Causeway Coast Dog Rescue we are passionate about the dogs we care for and our aim of the charity is simply to re-home unwanted dogs with loving families. Every dog deserves a second chance!

Our Maggie, Chair of Causeway Coast Dog Rescue, (Margaret Dimsdale-Bobby) presented in front of Minister Andrew Muir .ni this week to raise awareness on how we need reform of animal welfare legislation in Northern Ireland. The Minister announced that he was taking through to the Executive which CCDR Welcomes, however the Register which we had aniticipated would be part of the legislative changes, will now not be going through with it in this mandate, which is dissapointing. Also welcomed to the Conf, held in Stormont, entitled 'Legislation into Action', was Chair of AERA Committee and Party Leader@jonburrowsmla. As sponsor of the event, spoke of her commitment to legislative change, to improve the welfare of animals in N.Ireland and how she supported the work fo the charity and the conference. 🐾 From Rescue to Reform, From Legislation to Action🐾
Causeway Coast Dog Rescue is proud to launch our Animal Welfare Manifesto 2026 to 2030, setting out a clear call for better protection for animals and stronger support for the people who care for them across Northern Ireland.
Our frontline rescue work shows why change is needed. Domestic abuse, housing difficulties, irresponsible breeding and abandonment all bring animals through our doors. Preventing that suffering requires coordinated action, effective enforcement and accountability.
Our priorities include Ruby’s Law, Lucy’s Law, a Breeding Register, implementation of the Independent Breeding and AI Review recommendations, verified microchipping and licensing, stronger disqualification measures and improved greyhound welfare. We also call for a Northern Ireland Animal Welfare Strategy, consistent council services, better data and greater investment in prevention and education.
We are asking elected representatives, government, councils and our communities to help turn these proposals into measurable improvements. The manifesto sets out 17 reform areas, 12 strategic priorities and 13 government actions for MLAs to champion.
Read our manifesto and help us build a better future for animal welfare. www.causewaycoastdogrescue.org

FROM RESCUE TO REFORM...🐾 Our Chair Maggie, met and welcomed the Chair of the DAERA Committee Diana Armstrong MLA along with UUParty Leader Jon Burrows MLA to the charities Annual Conference in Stormont on 6th October. As we continue to campaign for improved and stronger legislation in protect mother and pups in low welfare breeding establishments and stop third party selling, Lucys Law is being passed through Parliament without the necessary Breeding Register that we had campaigned for.. While we welcome Lucy's Law as we have been avid campaigners for it in Northern Ireland, working closely with its founder Dr Marc Abraham OBE, we will continue our campaign to drive forward change to improve welfare for animals in NI... 🐾PUPPY UPDATE 🐾

Our little ones are growing so quickly! 🥹🐶 Their eyes are now open and they’re starting to take in the big wide world around them. Some are definitely braver than others and have already started venturing out a little further, while a few are still quite happy snuggling up close to mum! 🥰

Today was another little milestone as they had their first taste of puppy food! 🥣🐾 They’re learning so much every day and it’s amazing watching their little personalities start to shine through.

And then there’s our beautiful Lola… 🩷 What an absolute sweetheart she is. She is such a gentle, loving and devoted mummy, always so patient with her babies and keeping a watchful eye over them. We couldn’t be prouder of her. 🥹🐾

Now that their personalities are starting to emerge, we think it’s time for the really important job…

🩷WE NEED NAMES!🩷

We’d love to hear your name suggestions for our little gang! 🐶🐶🐶
We will start with these two beautiful boys first, and as always we would be grateful if anyone could donate to help toward the puppies and the overflow of dogs coming in and going out🏡 https://causewaycoastdogrescue.org/ Thank you for your continued support🏡🐕🐈‍⬛🐎🩷🐾

While we welcomed Minister Andrew Muir’s proposals for 'Lucy’s Law', we expressed our disappointment that a 'Breeding Register' was not included within this Assembly mandate. Traceability and effective enforcement are essential to protecting animals.
We also launched our 'Animal Welfare Manifesto 2026 to 2030*' outlining the many areas requiring reform and progress across Northern Ireland. For more information go to our website... 🩷TESS🩷
Meet our very special girl, Tess, a beautiful 9-year-old Border Collie who has been through so much — and yet she still has so much love to give. 🐾🩷

Tess was sadly brought to the vets to be put to sleep after becoming ill with pyometra (pyo), a life-threatening infection of the womb. Thankfully, our wonderful vets refused to give up on her. They performed the life-saving surgery she desperately needed, and Tess is now recovering and doing wonderfully. 🩷

(Her story is also a very important reminder of why spaying female dogs matters)

Pyometra is a serious and potentially fatal womb infection that can affect unspayed female dogs. It can become an emergency very quickly and, without treatment, can sadly be fatal. The good news is that spaying prevents pyometra.🙏

Tess was one of the lucky ones. Our amazing veterinary team gave her a second chance, and now we want to find the loving, quiet and peaceful home she deserves.🏡🩷

At 9 years young, Tess doesn't need a busy life. She needs love, patience, comfort and someone who will cherish her for the wonderful girl she is. 🥰

After everything she has been through, Tess deserves to spend her golden years feeling safe, loved and truly at home, for more info please 📞 07595 602702 mon-Fri between hours 11am-3pm thank you for your continued support 🏡 🐕 🐈‍⬛ 🐎 🩷 🐾
