OPEN DAY AT DAMHEAD MINIATURE RAILWAY

It’s coming close, the end of our summer season, Saturday 5th September our first open day in month of September and the penultimate open day of our 2026 summer season. As usual we will be ready to take our visitors on a trip around the railway in, I hope, glorious sunshine.
Our last two days, Saturday and then the Bank Holiday Monday were well attended, the weather was good and we had a diesel and steam loco doing stints of passenger hauling.
So, if you’re looking for somewhere to visit, on Saturday along the North Coast, come along to the Damhead Miniature Railway and take a train ride, see the gnome’s village, spot the various animal figurines, the features around the site and our indoor layouts which are always popular with the younger visitor. If the weather is favourable bring a picnic and use one of our picnic tables.
If you can’t make it, our next day is 19th September, that being our LAST date in the disappearing 2026 summer season. The schedule is located at the head of our page for Reference at any time.
On these days we will be open from 12noon with last train at 4.45pm. Train rides cost £2.00 per child and £3.00 per adult.
See you all there, I’m definitely going! I’ve been to all the previous, I think I’ll just finish the season out!

Open Day Saturday 29 August
Not only did our wonderful Damhead Miniature Railway friends (you lovely lot!) come to see us today, the neighbours did too!

If you couldn’t join us today, we will see you on Monday 31 August.

Planning for end of August already! Saturday 29th and Monday 31st August are our next open days at Damhead Miniature Railway, giving you a double chance to come and visit our railway. As usual, on the Saturday and then on the Monday, we will be ready to take our visitors on a trip around the railway in, I hope, in reasonable weather. Our previous open day August 8th we had a steady flow of visitors throughout the day and all enjoyed their visit.
So, if you’re looking for somewhere to visit, on any of our two days, come along to the Damhead Miniature Railway and take a train ride, see the gnome’s village, spot the various animal figurines around the site and see the indoor layouts. If the weather is favourable bring a picnic and use one of our picnic tables.

Hello Damhead Friends

Apparently another great Open Day at Damhead Miniature Railway today. I say apparently because resident volunteer photographer (me) couldn’t join in the fun today.

It is a shame to miss sharing all the laughs, smiles, giggles, trains and stream, so if you have any photos you would like to share, please do directly by adding in the comments to this post or tagging us.

You can also do this anytime you come and visit us, whether our photographer is there or not!

Damhead Open Day 25 July
Another fantastic day! The drizzle didn’t dampen any spirits. We had a private group in the morning and the Open Day in the afternoon.

Wonderful to see you all again. Looking forward to our next Open Day 8 August.

Damhead Railway Open Day 25th July 2026

Don’t forget that we are open again for another day and here’s hoping the weather is kind for us. This is our last Open Day in July. Where has that month gone! Our last Open Day Tuesday 14th was well attended, the weather was fine but unfortunately we had a breakdown with Linda and all services ad to be hauled with Red Arrow. Anyway Linda’s problem has been discovered and is well on way to being repaired. This time we have “Jack” to fall back on and hopefully a steam service will be running during the day. So this coming Saturday 25th July we are ready to go again, so come along to the Damhead Miniature Railway and have a train ride, see the gnome’s village, spot the various animal figurines, see all the other items and displays around the site. If you are feeling lucky, bring a picnic and use one of our picnic tables.
As usual if you are unfortunate that this Saturday does not suit, our full schedule of the remaining Open Days for the 2026 season appears at the head of our page for Reference at any time. On these days we will be open from 12noon with last train at 4.45pm. Child tickets £2.00 and Adults £3.00. Of course I’m going, see you all there!

Open Day 14 July
A hot one ☀️ today and not just from the steam 🚂.

The sun was shining, the smiles were smiling and the steam was steaming.
