Damhead Railway Open Day Saturday 23rd May 2026

We were unfortunate to have to cancel our last Open Day Saturday 2nd May 2026 but Saturday 23rd May is definitely going ahead with trains operating as normal starting at 12.00 noon with last train at 4.45pm
According to forecasts this weekend Saturday 23th May is going to be warm and sunny, so it’s your opportunity, if you’re looking for somewhere to visit why not come along to the Damhead Miniature Railway and have a train ride, see the gnome’s village, spot the various animal figurines and see the various railway related exhibits around the site. The weather is forecast to be good, so pack a picnic and come along, enjoy the sunshine and use one of our picnic tables.
If you are unfortunate that one of our days does not suit, please see our full schedule of Open Days for the 2026 season which appears at the head of our page for Reference at any time. On these days we will be open from 12noon with last train at 4.45pm. Child tickets £2.00 and Adults £3.00.
Come along and have a train ride, see what everyone’s talking about and if you are interested in railways, locomotives, engineering why not join the club, we are always looking helping hands, and give us a hand to run the railway.

IMPORTANT NOTICE - OPEN DAY - SATURDAY 2nd May

Owing to shortage of available members within the club we find ourselves unable to operate the Damhead Miniature Railway on Saturday 2nd May in a safe and professional manner and therefore have had to take the regrettable decision to CANCEL the OPEN DAY.
We will resume the normal service on our next scheduled Open Day 23rd May.
Hope to see you all then and we apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment caused.

Open Day 25 April 2026
The sun was shining, our visitors were smiling and the birds were singing. What a wonderful Open Day today.

Thank you to all who came along and enjoyed the train rides, the model trains inside & out, the train bubbles in the picnic area and the shop.

We hope to see you again soon. The next Open Day is next weekend, Saturday 2 May.

Damhead Railway Open Day 25th April 2026

The first Open Day of the 2026 season was well attended, the weather was pleasant and we had passenger arriving throughout the whole day. Linda and Jack were both in steam all day hauling passengers with the diesel Red Arrow starting things off hauling passengers in the morning. As usual all the animals and gnomes were on display and the Crow family were seen out waving to the passing trains. This season one of our members has added new model features which he has been busy working on during the winter.
This coming Saturday 25th April, our next open day is upon us and we are ready again, our screened coaches are ready for passengers So, if you’re looking for somewhere to visit why not come along to the Damhead Miniature Railway and have a train ride, see the gnome’s village, spot the various animal figurines around the site and visit the various layouts and displays around the site. If the weather is favourable bring a picnic and use one of our picnic tables.

It’s that time again! Here we go, everything is starting to prepare for the summer season, admittedly an early one this year but we’re getting everything ready for the new 2026 season at Turnakibbock Halt on the Damhead Miniature Railway.
We open, as usual, on the Easter Monday, this year being the 6th April at 12 noon with last train departing at 4.45pm. If Easter Monday doesn’t suit then we have 12No other days planned. See these other dates for the 2026 summer season as listed on the entry held at the top of our page – Damhead Miniature Railway.
On site, we have been clearing up trees and debris after the winter storms, carrying out track and bridge maintenance, “Grassy” has come out of his winter lair to terrorise passing trains, the flamingos have flown in and are nibbling at the fallen leaves and the Damheaad Gnome School will open with its usual quota of students, locomotives Linda, Jack and Red Arrow are getting dusted off after the winter ready for passenger hauling duties, Its all go!
So come along, spend an enjoyable Easter Monday at the Damhead Railway, take a pleasant train trip in the fresh air and sunshine, see the gnomes and animals around the track, visit our other indoor railway layouts and the small shop. No booking necessary, train rides tickets child £2.00 and adult £3.00.
You know me, I never miss it so I’ll definitely be there!
