🚂 Our recent open day at Damhead Miniature Steam Railway was a quieter one but an important one nonetheless.

While our open days may be what visitors see, there’s plenty happening behind the scenes. Maintenance, safety checks, site upkeep, locomotive preparation, and sharing knowledge with future generations all continue, whether we’re busy or not.

As a charity and member-supported organisation, everything we do relies on our members volunteering giving their time, skills and enthusiasm.

Without them, the trains simply wouldn’t run.

A huge thank you to everyone who helps keep Damhead on track and to you all for coming to our open days and supporting us whilst enjoying the steam engines, model railway and picnic area. 🚂

Damhead Railway Open Day 6th June 2026

Our last Open Day 23rd May 2026. – weather was reasonable but combined with other events happening within the Triangle Area it turned out to be a quiet day, but we still had some passengers visiting throughout the whole day. Linda, the steam loco never made it out of the trailer and all the hauling of passengers was done by Red Arrow. All the usual animals and gnomes were on display and the Crow family were seen out waving to the passing trains.
This coming Saturday 6th June, our next open day is upon us and we are ready with coaches and locos rearing to go. So, if you’re looking for somewhere to visit why not come along to the Damhead Miniature Railway and have a train ride, see the gnome’s village, spot the various animal figurines and see the various railway related exhibits around the site. McIvor the driver has returned from America and should appear on site somewhere. If the weather is favourable bring a picnic and use one of our picnic tables.
If you are unfortunate that one of our days does not suit, please see our full schedule of Open Days for the 2025 season which appears at the head of our page for Reference at any time. On these days we will be open from 12noon with last train at 4.45pm. Child tickets £2.00 and Adults £3.00.
Come along and have a train ride, see what everyone’s talking about and if you are interested in railways, locomotives, engineering why not join the club and give us a hand to run the railway.
Of course I’m going! See you all there!

Did you know… Damhead Miniture Railway is not only a great place to visit for an Open Day, or a Santa Special, but it is also a registered charity that you can also support by becoming a member.

Members meet weekly at the weekend to run their 7 1/4” gauge steam and diesel engines, help each other learn about maintaining these engines and also look after the track and club house.

It is a great way to meet like minded miniature railway enthusiasts, learn new skills and run your steam or diesel engine if you have one or learn about the workings from those who do.

We are always looking to welcome new members so if you are interested talk to a member at the next open day, drop us a FB message or email [email protected]

Photos show some of our members enjoying a recent members steaming / bbq meet up.
