Well that’s a wrap folks as we have closed the last of our open days for the season. Our next open days will be for Santa Special in December. All information is in the pinned post on our page.

A big thank you and shout out to you all who came to see and support us this season, as well as our members and volunteers who make it all happen.

Special thanks to Kenneth, Raymond and Nigel for sharing their engines with us all, and Terry for being a total legend.

Also a big shout out to Kenneth who is the OG of open day Facebook posters keeping us informed of what is happening and when.

For now, enjoy the rest of your weekend and keep well & happy until we see you when Santa comes to join us. We will keep you up to date with what we get up to between now and then with a few photos.

Don’t forget, we are a members club and if there are any older and bigger kids who would like to become members, do get in with us.

Saturday 19th September 2026 – Well it has arrived, I warned you, or last open day of the summer season. After this Saturday the next time trains run at Damhead will be on our Santa Specials days in December and then Easter Monday 2027. Times and all other things as they have been throughout the season, opening times are from 12.00 noon with last train at 4.45pm and the cost of a ticket will be £2.00 for a child and £3.00 for an adult. Hopefully the weather will be kind, so come and see all the other exhibits around the site and possibly have the last picnic of summer 2026.
The club, Coleraine and District Society of Model Engineers Ltd, who operate Damhead Railway would like to thank all who visited us during the summer and we very much hope we will see you again either at the Santa Specials or next summer. It is only through your continuing support that we are able to keep the railway operating. All our members operate the railway on a voluntary basis and all the locomotives are privately owned, so keep spreading the good word to your friends and associates and we will see you in the near future.
The usual plea, we are a small band of enthusiasts and if there is anyone out there interested in transport, steam, railways, model railways or can spare some time to become involved and help out at the railway, why not join the club and become involved in the hobby.
Once again thank you for your continuing support and we will see you all in the near future.

OPEN DAY AT DAMHEAD MINIATURE RAILWAY

It’s coming close, the end of our summer season, Saturday 5th September our first open day in month of September and the penultimate open day of our 2026 summer season. As usual we will be ready to take our visitors on a trip around the railway in, I hope, glorious sunshine.
Our last two days, Saturday and then the Bank Holiday Monday were well attended, the weather was good and we had a diesel and steam loco doing stints of passenger hauling.
So, if you’re looking for somewhere to visit, on Saturday along the North Coast, come along to the Damhead Miniature Railway and take a train ride, see the gnome’s village, spot the various animal figurines, the features around the site and our indoor layouts which are always popular with the younger visitor. If the weather is favourable bring a picnic and use one of our picnic tables.
If you can’t make it, our next day is 19th September, that being our LAST date in the disappearing 2026 summer season. The schedule is located at the head of our page for Reference at any time.
On these days we will be open from 12noon with last train at 4.45pm. Train rides cost £2.00 per child and £3.00 per adult.
See you all there, I’m definitely going! I’ve been to all the previous, I think I’ll just finish the season out!

Planning for end of August already! Saturday 29th and Monday 31st August are our next open days at Damhead Miniature Railway, giving you a double chance to come and visit our railway. As usual, on the Saturday and then on the Monday, we will be ready to take our visitors on a trip around the railway in, I hope, in reasonable weather. Our previous open day August 8th we had a steady flow of visitors throughout the day and all enjoyed their visit.
So, if you’re looking for somewhere to visit, on any of our two days, come along to the Damhead Miniature Railway and take a train ride, see the gnome’s village, spot the various animal figurines around the site and see the indoor layouts. If the weather is favourable bring a picnic and use one of our picnic tables.
