Ballyrashane WI ladies have an array of talents.
Some are bakers others sew, some are swimmers others are mountain climbers, some like to chat, some like to listen, some cycle others drive, some are walkers others are runners but regardless of their talents everyone is part of an amazing group of ladies who are there to support each other and their community.
Today I am delighted to share the talent of Ballyrashane WI member Ruth Chestnutt.
Ruth has sewn an amazing apron and is representing Ballyrashane WI in the world competition held this year in Canada.
We hope, Sandra Carruthers, our President who is attending the world conference in Canada will be bringing the first place prize back to Ballyrashane for Ruth's amazing work .

8th April 2026 :
Trekking Morocco
Ballyrashane WI were excited to have Sarah Blair of Awaken Wellness with us for our April meeting.
Sarah qualified as a beautician and has worked in various locations including London, Nirvana and Clarins in Moores Coleraine before setting up her own business on the family farm near Macosquin.
Initially it was make up and nails but Sarah then progressed to more specialised skin treatments and well being so Awaken Wellness was born.
Sarah also has a great affinity with nature and appreciates the benefits of taking time out in nature . Initially it was the sea and forests and then Sarah found the benefits of spending time climbing mountains.
It started with Binevenagh (385m) near Limavady then Sarah discovered the splendour of the Mournes (Slieve Donard 850m) and a few peaks in Southern Ireland ( over 1000m ) before she discovered Jason Black a renowned mountain guide who has climbed K2 and she decided to join the group of climbers going to the Morocco 7 summits.
This was a whole new experience with a group of people she didn’t know and with the mountains ranging from 2600m to 4100 metres it was a tremendous achievement to complete .
As Sarah explained everyone was the same up the mountains. It didn’t matter how much money you had in the bank or how big your house or car were everyone was equal and needed each other .
Despite the many challenges faced on the trip Sarah is still buzzing and ready for her next adventure later this year to the 7 summits in Scotland.
While most of us will probably never climb the mountains that Sarah has climbed we should all take time out to enjoy the benefits of the nature on our door steps.
The competion was A holiday Necessity.
1st place went to Dorothy Duffin
2nd place went to Valerie Sharpe
3rd place went to Kaye Henry.
As always everyone enjoyed a delicious supper and the craic , banter, friendship and support that is at the heart of Ballyrashane WI

WREATH MAKING WORKSHOP
A great day was had by all the ladies who attended our wreath making workshop today @ 30a Rectory Road Coleraine hosted by Olive McCaughan in her converted barn.
We had an abundance of things to choose from to make our wreaths.
After a quick demo from Olive we all got to work and produced the most amazing wreath.
The talent of Ballyrashane ladies is amazing.
