A proud start to National Cadet Week as the Essex Tri-Service Cadets came together for a joint flag-raising ceremony in the presence of the Lord-Lieutenant of Essex.
The occasion was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the young people who make up our Cadet Forces and to recognise their commitment, achievement, teamwork and service within their communities.

Bringing together cadets from across the three Services was a fitting way to mark the beginning of National Cadet Week and to showcase the shared values that unite the Cadet Forces.

Today we were given an amazing opportunity to go onboard HMS Prince of Wales!
We had a fantastic tour by the crew members, showing us what life is like on board one of their air craft carriers. What an awesome experience for the cadets.
Not many photos we are afraid as we were unable to in most locations onboard but still what a wonderful day!
Thank you Royal Navy for allowing us to come see one of your incredible vessels and for everything you do.

We would also like to thank for lending us your minibus again, without it we couldn’t have gone.

More awards for our amazing cadets at T.S Colne Light!

AC Isla was awarded her basic catering after participating on a catering course. BZ!

AC Phoebe received her badges for basic catering and paddle explore, which she gained at district summer camp this year. BZ!

AC Andrew was awarded his power boat level 2, after working hard at the most recent boating weekend. BZ!

Divisions this evening saw some of our cadets getting awards and promotions!

First Class Junior Cadet Izy received her Yellow and Blue badges and was promoted to Able Junior Cadet!

BZ to them for the hard work!


Cadet Alex was awarded his go row 2, from the boating weekend recently and was promoted to Cadet First Class.

Cadet Dominic was awarded his go row 2 badge, from the boating weekend just passed.

LC Axel received his basic mountain biking, after being awarded it at District summer camp.

Cadet First Class Jemima was awarded her Stage 2 sailing, from the recent boating weekend.

Cadet Noah received his Power boat level 1 badge, which he was awarded at District summer camp.

Cadet Olivia was awarded her Power boat level 1 from the boating weekend just passed and recieved her basic catering after attending District summer camp.

Cadet First Class Grace received her Power boat level 1, after working hard on the boating weekend just passed.

T.S Colne Light’s National Trafalgar parade candidates.
On Sunday they made their way to Ilford to try out for the guard, for national trafalgar parade in London.
They all did amazingly well and should be incredibly proud of themselves.

Yesterday we had an amazing opportunity to have a unit visit to HMS President.

We received an awesome tour by the RN engagement team, with a lesson in officer fines in the wardroom. They all agreed the junior rates mess was the best.

Then the cadets was given a leadership task, which involved getting their supplies over the balcony without touching the flags (which spelt out HMS President) then they had to build a pulley system to transport their supplies from one ship to another. It was fantastic to see our senior cadets take on the leader role and support our juniors in the task.

To top off the day we had the opportunity to explore HMS Belfast! The cadets really enjoyed seeing all the different parts and areas on the ship, as well as learning some of the history HMS Belfast has to offer.

Massive thank you to the RN Engagement Team, HMS President and HMS Belfast for the great day.
A special shoutout to Sea Cadets Hornchurch and Upminster for allowing us to borrow their minibus, wouldn’t have been possible without them.
