Dylanwad aka Dylans (www.dylanwad.co.uk), a wine bar in Dolgellau, North Wales, famous for Welsh wine, is the latest venue to sell our Sunshine Nut cashews from Mozambique. Dolgellau is also the location of the RFI Band’s most recent gig. The band features Andy Cooke (pictured here – guitar and our latest sales agent), Andrew Barnes (saxophone), Dewi Thomas (drums), Doug Florence (bass), Steve Pennington (guitar) and Jamie MacAlister (vocals/keyboard and founder of African Kingdom). There is a prize of a free delivered Variety Box of Sunshine Nut cashews 12 x 30g in Herby, Salty, Spicy & Plain flavours, for the first person who can tell us what does the acronym RFI stand for? 🌍✨ Closing the Gap ✨🌍

Africa grows most of the world’s cocoa, cashews, and coffee… but too often exports them raw. That means the profits and jobs go elsewhere.

FAIRMADE® flips the script. By roasting cashews in Mozambique and crafting chocolate in Ghana & Madagascar, we keep value in Africa - creating jobs and reinvesting profits into communities.

Snack well. Do good. Choose Trade Not Aid.

FAIRMADE now a UK registered collective trademark. FAIRMADE represents a group of companies who make finished products at the origin of the primary product ingredient, creating and utilising local skilled manufacturing jobs, adding value to boost the economy and support communities in developing countries. Buying these products is one of the best ways of alleviating poverty in the world’s poorest continent, Africa, because it supports skilled jobs, reducing unemployment and improving family income above subsistence levels, the main issues contributing to poverty. To understand more about how this works, you can read an article entitled: “The case for fair trade and FAIRMADE as an optimal way to alleviate poverty” Link to article: https://bit.ly/4eOgk0u

The Reverse Christmas Hamper
Some of the tradition surrounding gift hampers includes gifts of food for the poor at Christmas time. But with a FAIRMADE Christmas Box, we are reversing the logic! When you buy one of these for someone, you are making a contribution to the poor producers of the products in the box. These are products that not only have ingredients sourced in developing countries, but are unusually processed and packaged in those countries, creating much-needed employment, and in this way, supporting poor communities in ways that are sustainable.

With some of my emerging dietary challenges, including minimising dairy product intake, I have discovered that vegan cheese, made with quality cashew nuts, on toast with salad, is really tasty as well as healthy. I used a 200g pack of herby flavoured Sunshine Nut cashews, with the recipe on the Instagram link below. If you buy those cashews from us at www.africankingdom.co.uk,
not only is there a “Buy 5 get 1 pack free” offer, but you are also helping to create jobs and sustainable income in one of the poorest and most troubled countries in the world, Mozambique. And as so many of our customers tell us, these cashews are "so fresh and tasty" because they are processed and packed close to the farms in Mozambique

Working with our pioneering UK independent retailer customers to help alleviate poverty in Africa. Www.africankingdom.co.uk import and distribute in the UK food products which are manufactured to finished product in sub-Saharan Africa. Having lived in Africa, I believe that the best way to alleviate poverty is to create demand for value-added products which are manufactured locally. Alot of Africa is very fertile, and agriculture represents a high proportion of jobs, but these are still subsistence level because, even with fair trade, the prices paid by manufacturers in the west for raw materials like cocoa, coffee, tea and nuts is still relatively low. At the same time, African has one of the world's youngest populations, but many are without a job. Providing better paid skilled jobs in manufacturing addresses this problem, and the extra value generated can also be re-generated to support communities in other ways. This is how our main supplier, Sunshine Nut Co in Mozambique works, with 90% of profits going to fund community projects in housing and education.

“Happiness is knowing that you are contributing, We are united by a common cause. Being good to mankind is good business” to quote Lee, owner of Lulu's Kitchen in Cheadle, one of our Sunshine Nut delicatessen customers. My friend Andrew Barnes and I visited Lulu's last week on our way back from a college band reunion. Lee is referring to the fact that by promoting these cashews, she is supporting www.africankingdom.co.uk in helping to create manufacturing jobs and support families in Mozambique, one of the world's poorest and most troubled countries.

They are also great quality because they are processed and retail-packed close to the farms, as Lee also testifies: “I keep the products at the front as they are an impulse purchase. But once people have tasted them, they always come back”
