We’re off on our holidays – and we’d love you to come along!
This September, we’re turning every step into an adventure as we take on the Fun Walk Trust Walking Challenge helping Headway Essex provide essential support to people affected by brain injury.
Pack your (virtual) backpack, choose your route, and join us for a month of fun, friendship, and fundraising!

Choose Your Adventure
We’ve created three exciting virtual holiday routes for you to complete throughout September. The Team Trek, Colchester to Rome, The County Quest, journey across Essex and the London Landmarks.

How it works
When: 1st–30th September
Where: Walk anywhere, at any time during September
Who: Families, friends, work teams, community groups and individuals – everyone is welcome!

Your fundraising can go even further! We’re registered with the Fun Walk Trust, meaning your fundraising could unlock additional support through their bonus fund.
In 2025, for every £100 raised in sponsorship, charities received an additional £35 from the bonus fund – making every step and every donation count even more!
Since 2002, the Fun Walk initiative has helped raise more than £1.6 million for local Essex charities and good causes.

It won’t be long now until we’re heading back down to Big Yellow Self Storage to get stuck into the all-important job of getting everything ready for our Classic Vehicle Show in September! And believe us… there’s a LOT to sort!

We’ve been back and forth collecting everything we need, and having a safe, organised space at Big Yellow Self Storage makes life so much easier. It means we can keep everything together, safe and ready to go when we need it for our events.

A massive thank you to the Big Yellow team for their ongoing support and for giving us the perfect place to store all our car show essentials. It really does make a huge difference to us!

The end of last week was a real scorcher!

But that didn’t stop us from getting out and about, spreading the word about brain injury awareness and the support available.

We’re passionate about raising awareness at every opportunity, and we’re incredibly grateful to be able to join community organisations and event organisers at events across Essex.

A huge thank you to U-Fest, Maldon District Council and Pride in Colchester for welcoming us and giving us the opportunity to connect with the community. And, of course, thank you to all the lovely people who came along and took the time to speak with us.

Let’s keep the conversation going and make sure that everyone affected by brain injury knows that support is available.

Join us for the Headway Essex Classic Vehicle & Vintage Show – a much-loved annual event that’s returning bigger and better than ever!

Sunday 20th September
10:30am – 4:00pm
Lower Castle Park, Colchester

Set in the beautiful surroundings of Lower Castle Park, this is a day packed with nostalgia, entertainment, and community spirit.

Over 200 classic and vintage vehicles will be on display, from beautifully restored cars and historic motors to rare and much-loved favourites. Whether you’re a dedicated classic car enthusiast or simply enjoy seeing stunning vehicles from years gone by, there’ll be plenty to admire.

Come and say Hi!

We’re visiting our lovely neighbours at Chesterwell East of England Co-op today. If you’re in the neighbourhood, please come along and say “Hi”. We’d love to see you!

Bex and Kevin will be there to share information about our services and answer any questions you may have.

Kevin has a brain injury and is always happy to talk about his own experiences. He can share what life is like living with a brain injury, the challenges he has faced, and the support that has made a difference to him. He’s also very happy to answer questions and help raise awareness and understanding of brain injury.

Whether you already know about our work, have a question, would like to find out more about the services we provide, or simply want to stop for a chat and say hello — we’d love to meet you!

So, if you’re popping into Chesterwell Co-op, keep an eye out for us and come over for a chat.

Headway Essex will be there, and we’d love to see you!

Amazing news for Headway Essex!

We’re absolutely delighted to have been awarded an incredible £7,667 from this year’s Paglesham Clay Pigeon Shoot!

This incredible donation means we can continue to be there for the people and families we know and support across Essex, helping them rebuild their lives after brain injury.

The shoot raised an amazing £24,000 for charity in total, with donations also going to Havens Hospices and Southend Guide Dogs. What an incredible achievement!

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, donated and supported the event – and to the hardworking committee and volunteers who made it all possible.

We’re incredibly grateful to The Paglesham Clay Pigeon Shooting Club and The Plough & Sail, Paglesham for choosing Headway Essex once again as one of your charities.

We also had such a wonderful day and were made to feel so welcome. From the fantastic hospitality and delicious food to getting involved in the event, it was a real pleasure to be part of such a brilliant occasion.

Thank you for your incredible generosity and continued support. Together, you’re helping us make a real difference.

The summer holidays have started!

Need a fun day out this weekend? Then grab the family, sun lotion and a picnic, and head down to Garon Park in Southend, where Headway Essex has a pitch at the Feel Good Festival!

The Feel Good Festival is a free community festival held every year in Garon Park. This year it will be held on

Saturday 8th August, from 10am-4pm.

Come along for music, movement, marketplace, inflatables, food, and more!

Learn how to improve you and your family’s overall health and wellbeing at the different zones, plus entertainment and music.

Curious about your brain?
Join us for games, fun, and hands-on learning to discover how to keep your brain healthy!
