The Essex Book Festival is over for 2026, and what a season it's been. From our kickoff at the Colchester Jobserve Community Stadium to our final events at the beautiful Gibberd Garden and Layer Marney Tower, it’s been a packed month.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made it so special. We couldn’t cram it all in to one minute, but here's a little bit of Essex sparkle for you ✨️

This year, Essex Book Festival hosted the Human Library Organization for the first time in Clacton-on-Sea! We spoke to some of the books about what makes it so special.

This event was organised by the Essex Cultural Diversity Project in partnership with the Human Library Organisation, and hosted by Community Voluntary Services Tendring as part of the Essex Book Festival.
