Of course, the visit to the Tower is taken at your own risk.
We do have Health & Safety regulations to observe, the most important being:
There are 126 steps to climb to the top of the tower.

The tower is approximately 30m tall.

The stair narrows significantly at the upper level of the tower, with 46 steps of very narrow climbing.

The top 46 steps (approximately 520mm wide) are almost half the width of the first tower step (900mm wide).

Climbing the tower comes with risk, and descending the tower is much more difficult than ascending it.

Thought must be given to abilities of ascent and descent.

Bookings taken via email [email protected]

Bells restoration at All Saints’ Church.

Following the repair and renovation of the church tower the bells were removed this week to be restored and adapted for electronic ringing.
The two traditional bells, including one cast in 1400 weighing 1/2 a ton and the other a Sanctus bell, were lowered from the tower. A set of 10 very heavy tubular bells were also removed along with their timber frame.
When restored and returned to the tower in October the bells will once again ring out over Brightlingsea to mark weddings, funerals and National events.
The funding for the renovations has come from a variety of sources including donations from individuals, local organisations, tower tour ticket sales, Friends of All Saints and various charitable grants. Donations are still being sought to complete this project.
