Level Best Enterprises was established in 2006 as a not-for-profit community business providing realistic work skills training to individuals with learning disabilities. In March 2008 our Level Best Art Cafe opened in Colchester Town Centre. The business provides art and cafe services to local people and visitors to Colchester. Cafe:

The Cafe Gallery regularly features work by us and local artists, and is open daily from 9:30am - 3:30pm

Become a Gallery Member and exhibit your artwork. Seasonal Fayre:

We make and sell greetings cards, jams, marmalades as well as other items. We also stock a selection of jewellery made by local crafspeople. Horticulture:

We work closely with Castle Park Rangers in a host of different activities to help maintain and keep Castle Park special. Level Best provides opportunities for transition year school pupils and adults with learning disabilities to gain genuine work experience in a safe and supportive town centre business. The Cafe and Art Media services gives trainees experience of customer care skills. The Horticulture training services work closely with Colchester Borough Council Park Rangers. Level Best is not just about work training, it is also about life skills, inclusion and community participation.

Jamie has achieved his art goal for the year - he stretched his own canvas and then completed an ambitious composition featuring his favourite butterflies.

Jamie painted the background first with a watery blue wash and then Art Studio staff helped him with the outlines. He then spent many weeks painstakingly adding colour and detail to bring his butterflies to life!

The painting is currently on display on our cafe wall 🦋

Level Best on tour! Today a small group of art trainees visited ‘Beyond Labels’ at The Hold in Ipswich!

We learnt about the lives, achievements and challenges faced by people living with disabilities in Suffolk, past & present. The exhibition created a lot of discussion within the group, and we found it super accessible ⭐️

We enjoyed the displays about how advances in technology have improved our lives, and the interactive exhibits. We found information about how people with disabilities were treated in the past very interesting but sometimes a bit upsetting.
We also liked the cafe, the gift shop, the big ramp and the spacious toilets! 🚽

On the way back to Level Best HQ we spotted 2 of Claire’s posters on display at Colchester Town train station - big up to for displaying these and also for making train travel so easy and accessible for us today.

If you want to visit ‘Beyond Labels’ at The Hold, hurry up - the exhibition is only on until 30th May.
