A history about Seven Rivers Home
Seven Rivers was a residential home for the elderly post war before being acquired by the Leonard Cheshire Foundation in 1954. The first patient arrived in January 1958. After this date the house has been used for residential purpose. Currently it is nursing home with care.
When we look at the history of the Seven Rivers building:
Before being bought in 1954, the house has been used as a hunting lodge in the inter-war years, an army hospital during the Second World War. From earliest times it was known as Bromley Hall, Great Bromley Hall, occasionally, Church Hall, and was the seat of the Manor of Great Bromley through until 1917 when the Lordship of the Manor was sold off and thus separated from the estate.
In 1792 the Hall was the headquarters of a large gathering army preparing to defend the country against the French Revolutionary Army.
