Colchester United Community Foundation's programme provides high quality sporting provision for schools and groups around the town, strengthening the bond that the club has with its community. In September 2015 Colchester United Community Foundation was awarded charitable status, enabling us as an organisation to be supported by the Charities Commission and Football League Trust. This also ensures that all funding and income received is re-invested back into the improvement and development of the organisation. The scheme provides high quality sports and education programmes to children, young people and adults from across the region. Currently delivering sport to over 9000 participants each week through activities delivered in schools, and local venues whilst also offering a expansive holiday activity programme. Working in the heart of your local community, you can rest assured that all activities will be delivered by highly qualified coaches with a wealth of experience in developing young people of all abilities.

🏉 Too wet. Too dry. Too hard. What happens to rugby then?

Heavy rain can leave pitches waterlogged. Prolonged heat and drought can leave ground hard and cracked. At either extreme, training and fixtures suffer—with consequences for player safety, maintenance, volunteer time and club finances.

But sports clubs are also part of the solution. Through their grounds, buildings, volunteers and community connections, they can help shape practical local responses.

On Saturday 17 October, we’re bringing people from across Colchester’s sporting community together to explore what a changing climate means for the sports we love—and what we could do about it together.

You don’t need to be a climate expert. Bring your knowledge of your sport, club or community.
