Our OTW player of the month for April 2026 is Harley Meadows.

Harley attends our Tuesday Off The Charts squad and he has been a stand out improver recently. We love his energy, enthusiasm, good manners and respect.

Recently Harley has found extra confidence and is often the first to answer questions and give in-depth responses. His squash has developed so much both technically and tactically.

He’s a brilliant member of the Academy, well done to Harley for all your hard work and dedication!

🤩Our Player of the Month for March 2026 is Freddie-Lee Thorne 🤩

Freddie-Lee was introduced to squash as part of our school squash programme. He joined the Academy in the Autumn of 2025 and attends twice a week. His squash and understanding of the sport has improved at a rapid rate.

He is a great asset to the squads that he participates in, we love his wit and positive personality!

Freddie-Lee is always keen to learn and push himself to improve, we are excited to see what he can achieve in the future. Well done Freddie-Lee 🤩🙌🏻

A moment for our amazing Emily…

Em is taking on the 2026 London Marathon this Sunday, in support of St Elizabeth Hospice- a place that means so much to her.

She’s running in memory of her best friend Carly, who faced a decade-long battle with cancer with incredible courage and dignity. The hospice cared for her at the end of her journey last year.

They also cared for her grandad 14 years ago, making this cause deeply personal.

“The money I raise will help this amazing facility continue the incredible work they do, supporting patients and families when they need it most.”

Now if you know Em, you’ll know running long distances is not her favourite thing to do! Chase a netball, squash or a hockey ball- YES! But running a marathon is a big deal- she’s put in some serious mileage over the last few months and we couldn’t be prouder of her 💕

If you’re able to support, please do. Let’s help her SMASH that target 💪🏻

Another OTW Academy V friendly and it never disappoints!!

We had Easter madness yesterday, with so many matches we can’t count 😅😅 It’s safe to say the refs and organisers are tired 😴

Always great fun with these lot and lots of improvement seen every time we do these. Well done to everyone who played, especially those who haven’t played these inter-academy matches before.

Hopefully we all burnt off a couple of Easter Eggs!!
Have a great weekend all 🙌🏻

Last week we had a brilliant day rounding off the Year 4 Roman Cup Finals.

In total, we had 18 teams, 180 matches and a full day of energy, effort and some seriously impressive squash.

For many of these players, it’s still early days in their squash journey, which is exactly what makes it so enjoyable to watch. You see confidence building, teammates supporting one another and players beginning to understand how to compete as well as how to play.

After the first round, teams were split into three groups, competing for winner and runner-up titles across each:

Gold
🥇 Lawford 1
🥈 Lawford 2

Silver
🥇 Hamilton
🥈 Myland

Bronze
🥇 Tendring
🥈 Layer de la Haye 2

We also had some well deserved individual awards on the day:

Most Improved Girl: Sophie, Baynards

Most Improved Boy: Leo, Layer de la Haye

Best Girl: Lizzie, Colchester High

Best Boy: Bastian, Lawford

Sportsmanship Awards:
Harley, Stanway
Ava, Hazelmere
Albie, Ardleigh
Finley, Langham

What always stands out with the Roman Cup is that it goes beyond results. It’s about giving young players a positive introduction to competition, encouraging them to push themselves and most importantly, enjoy it.

If this year is anything to go by, we’ve definitely got some future players to watch… and probably a few parents about to spend a lot more time at the squash courts too!

Well done to everyone involved and a big thank you to Councillor Martin Goss for presenting the prizes and helping make the day feel that bit more special.👏

Our Player of the Month for February 2026 is Grace Woodhead.

Grace has been a member of the Academy for 8 years! She is in our highest level group and is one of our best female players. Over the years Grace has represented the East of England and Essex on many occasions. She has played in tournaments all over the country and has always been a great ambassador for our Academy.

Although not always the loudest in the group, she has quietly worked hard and has continued to improve. On trips abroad it has been wonderful to see her come out of her shell and boldly take on any dares she has to do! It is lovely to see her mature on court and feel more confident in her own ability.

Well done Grace, we are proud of your squash journey.
