For interest... Katy recently completed her PhD in Sociology at Essex and has a great new job as OU Academic Lead to the BBC4's Thinking Allowed.
This week's Friday Thinker takes a slightly different format. The OU has a working relationship with BBC Radio 4's 'Thinking Allowed' feature, a weekly broadcast that explores the latest research into how society works and discusses current ideas on how we live today. You can find out more about this here: http://www.open.edu/openlearn/whats-on/radio/thinking-allowed/ou-on-the-bbc-thinking-allowed This week, Laurie Taylor spoke with Sasha Roseneil about her research on the phenomenon of 'living together apart'. The discussion lasts around 9 minutes and is available to download here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04xrl8f).
If you have the chance to listen to it before tomorrow you will get the most from this week's Friday thinker question. If you are unable to listen for whatever reason, do not worry, you will still be able to participate in the debate.
Katy Wheeler is a sociologist with interests in sustainable consumption and moral economies. She is the OU Academic Lead on the current series of Thinking Allowed and is keen to get you interested in the research featured on the show.
Katy's question on this topic will appear tomorrow at the usual time.
