Thank you to our visitors who kept a safe distance today while our hawthorn hedges were trimmed. Grateful thanks to Jonathan Doe for doing the work for us again π
This is necessary work as Hawthorn can be an invasive species so managing it is important;
πΏRegular pruning removes dead or diseased wood (improving air circulation) and keeps trees healthy, structurally sound.
πΏPruning stimulates fresh growth and can increase the density of flowers, which are crucial for early-season bees and pollinators.
πΏRegular trimming prevents hawthorn from becoming "leggy," encouraging it to fill out and form a thick, secure hedge, which is ideal for nesting birds.
The Spring is clearly bringing the Green back to life with birds and insects, new growth and nature in all its glory! The Green is a wonderful natural space open to all - families, dog walkers, joggers and folks of all ages.
