A wonderful confluence of music and art: as of today, The Minories in Colchester is filled with Charlotte Bernays’ beautiful, beautiful work, each piece a different form of meditation on permanence and change.
Particularly exciting for us is ‘River - The Constant State of Becoming’, twisting wire and shadow evoking the tides and inspired and accompanied by Arvo Pärt’s ‘Spiegel im Spiegel’ played like breathing by pianist Alissa Firsova and cellist David Cohen.
Treat yourself and visit the exhibition and then come and hear Alissa and David live at this year’s Roman River Festival (dates tba shortly.)

Look down the list to No Strings Attached! For the second year in a row, CCC has generously given us funding to mirror an evening Roman River Festival concert with a free lunchtime one for Year 6 pupils at the primary schools of Greenstead - and it’s within walking/cycling distance for them in medieval St Andrew’s church.
Huge thanks to CCC for continued support of Zélie’s aim from the outset to twin world class music with education and outreach.
Watch this space for more about this as the RRF 2026 begins to take shape.

It was fantastic to be last Sunday performing some classical music favourites in our free family concert, bringing our 25th anniversary festival to a close. Members of the Wild Arts performed music with a French theme including Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite, Bizet’s Jeux d’Enfants and Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Plus we were blown away by an extraordinary performance from young pianist .

Tonight’s the night! Our 25th Anniversary Festival finale is here!

The Wild Arts Ensemble are joined by three world-class soloists for Beethoven’s Triple Concerto and then they perform Iain Farrington’s arrangement of Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 for chamber orchestra. Conducted by our Artistic Director Orlando Jopling, this promises to be an unforgettable night of music making at the very highest level.

Our 25th Anniversary Festival is off to a great start and continues all week.

Tonight toast Shostakovich on the 50th anniversary of his death with a rare (we think unique) opportunity to hear both his piano trios in one concert.
