If you have managed to collect any colostrum in your pregnancy, please bring some with you when you come into hospital. We can store this safely for you and assist you with breastfeeding and giving your baby your colostrum if needed! 🤱

Finding out you are pregnant and having a baby can lead to a mix of different feelings. Ideally it is an exciting and happy time. However, it is also a time fuelled with change which can make us feel anxious, depressed, stressed and overwhelmed.

Today, our Bereavement Team will be at the entrance to the hospital, offering a safe and welcoming space for anyone who would like to stop by. 🦋

Whether your loss is recent or many years ago, you are always welcome to come and talk to us. 💕

Our team will be there to:
🤍 Listen if you’d like to talk about your precious little one.
🤍 Signpost you to bereavement support services and resources.
🤍 Offer you the opportunity to write a message or name on a heart, which will be placed on our special trellis in the hospital chapel.

There is no pressure to talk or take part in anything. You are welcome to simply come and say hello.

No matter how much time has passed, your little one matters, your story matters, and you are not forgotten. 💗

Tomorrow marks the start of Baby Loss Awareness Week, or BLAW 🌟

BLAW exists to help raise awareness of the scale and impact of baby loss, as well as to show support to families who've lost a baby.

Half of adults in the UK have experienced baby loss or know someone who has. But lots of parents tell us they feel as though baby loss isn't spoken about enough, which can feel isolating. This BLAW, we'll be sharing stories from families, information about baby loss and showing our support for anyone affected.

Help us keep ultrasound appointments running on time 💙
We’re seeing an increasing number of patients arriving late for obstetric ultrasound appointments. We’re working to better understand the reasons for this, but there are some simple things you can do to help us keep appointments running smoothly for everyone.

⏰ Please aim to arrive 15 minutes before your appointment.
🚗 Plan ahead for your journey and parking. Our car parks can be particularly busy at peak times, so please allow extra time. If you’re concerned about finding a space, you may wish to arrange for someone to drop you off. Your partner can still join you in the scan room once your scan has begun.
📍 Allow time to find the department. If you haven’t visited us before, Antenatal Ultrasound is on the first floor at the rear of West Suffolk Hospital.

If you know you’re going to be late, please contact the Ultrasound Department by calling 01284 713259 as soon as possible to let us know.
