☀️ Join us for Summertime Share, a free community event bringing together local organisations offering information, advice and support for residents and families.

Pop along to St Margaret's Church, Stansted Road, Colchester, on Friday 5 June between 10am and 1pm for free clothing, refreshments and the chance to chat with a range of local support services. Whether you're looking for advice, a helping hand, or simply want to find out what's available in your community, everyone is welcome.

We're also collecting donations of good-quality pre-loved adult T-shirts, children's summer clothing and school uniforms ahead of the event. Donations can be dropped off at Greenstead Local Housing Office, Hawthorn Avenue, Monday to Friday between 10am and 4pm until Wednesday 3 June.

Every donation will help support local people this summer. 💙

Monkwick! 🤩 Get a first look at your new play park! 🙌

School Road Playground is getting a makeover. 🤗 We’ll be adding new accessible equipment including a trampoline, roundabout and multi-play unit, plus toddler and junior swings, a junior climbing unit, and activity panels. 👍

The surface will also be upgraded to a new rubber mulch safety surface too - you can get a taste of what to expect in the pic! 😊

Work starts soon and will take around five weeks to complete - just in time for the Summer holidays!

A new plan for your home 🏡

We’ve launched Decent Homes Plus — our updated approach to keeping our tenants' homes safe, warm and well maintained for the future. 👍

The new programme still meets the Government’s Decent Homes Standard, but takes a more planned, affordable and fair approach to major upgrades like kitchens and bathrooms, replacing them at the end of their expected lifespan.

We’ll also be carrying out surveys every five years to help us better understand the condition of homes and plan improvements properly. If you’re contacted for a survey, please make sure you let us in - it helps ensure your home doesn’t miss out. 😊

We’re continuing to work closely with Essex Police and other partners to support action in Greenstead and help ensure residents feel safe in their neighbourhoods. 💙

👮‍♂️ You’ll see more officers out and about engaging with the public in Greenstead – and this is why.

We’re stepping up high-visibility patrols and taking action every day to tackle crime where it matters most.

Recently, we dismantled the ‘Rocco’ drug line operating in Colchester – with two people jailed following our investigation.

That operation was linked to a serious incident of drug-related violence in Greenstead last year.

Through proactive investigation, we:

✔️ Identified those responsible
✔️ Made arrests
✔️ Seized drugs, cash and weapons

This is just one example of the action we’re taking.

Our teams are in Greenstead disrupting drug dealing, tackling anti-social behaviour and responding directly to concerns raised by the community.

We know the harm these drug lines cause, and we will continue to target those involved while protecting those at risk.

We’re inviting CBH residents to join us for a relaxed coffee and chat about home safety on Wednesday 27 May at Enoch House.

We want to hear directly from you about the information we provide around safety in your home - what’s clear, what could be better, and what might be missing altogether. You’ll also be able to share experiences, ask questions and chat with staff in an informal setting.

Recycling and waste collection changes are coming to Colchester in the coming weeks. Make sure you're following Colchester City Council so you don't get caught out!

The wait is over! 🙌 Colchester’s wheeled bin rollout begins next week!

Around 18,000 households across selected parts of the city will receive new bins as part of an early rollout starting on Monday. 🤗

As previously announced, the rollout will then continue in stages across Colchester until next March, although some homes unsuitable for wheeled bins will continue using bags as normal. 👍

If you’re in an early rollout area, your bins will arrive with a leaflet explaining everything you need to know, including when to start using them. 📅

‼️ All residents should keep an eye out for communication in the coming weeks about changes to their collection day or week - not just those receiving bins in this first phase. We’ll share more information on our socials, as well as through letters and/or postcards depending on how you are affected. 👀
