A huge thank you to the Worcester and Hereford PRA Branch for their recent donation following their Airborne Forces day.

Friends, family and the local community gathered for a great day in the sunshine and generously supported an on the day auction and raffle, raising money for the branch and SUPPORT OUR PARAS.

A huge thank you to Tony Moore's K2 band, who travelled to Arnhem to perform a couple of gigs during the annual commemorations to benefit SUPPORT OUR PARAS.

The band, who played three concerts over the weekend, gave up their time to make this happen and performed a number of original songs honouring our Airborne community at their gigs.

They managed to raise an impressive £2,000 over the weekend through ticket sales and donations, which is a fantastic amount. This will go towards supporting serving soldiers, veterans and families, which we are immensely grateful for.

And they're home!

The Falklands Riders made it safely back to Colchester this morning, following their epic cycle to Arnhem for this year's commemorations.

The team, which comprises veterans from The Parachute Regiment, The Royal Engineers and the Royal Navy who all served in the Falklands in 1982, were raising money for SUPPORT OUR PARAS, and were welcomed home by the Town Crier of Colchester.

The Service of Remembrance held at CWGC Oosterbeek is the culmination of this weekend's commemorations.

The Colonel Commandant of The Parachute Regiment laid a wreath alongside the 16 Air Assault Brigade Commander and the Commander of the Polish 6th Airborne Brigade.

Geoff Roberts, one of the few surviving members of the British Airborne Forces who fought in and around Arnhem in September 1944, received warm applause as he paid tribute to his fallen brothers by laying his own wreath. Having recently celebrated his 101st birthday, Geoff was the only surviving veteran able to attend this year’s commemorative services in Holland.

The 'Flower Children' concluded the service with the traditional laying of flowers at the graves of the fallen, ensuring their legacy continues to be passed on to new generations.

In honour of those that went before.

82 years since the 1st Airborne Division jumped into Arnhem, paratroopers from 16 Air Assault Brigade Combat Team and NATO allies filled the sky over Ginkel Heath once more.

The drop was preceded by a service honouring the men who landed there 82 years previously.

SUPPORT OUR PARAS is proud to provide funding to enable the commemorative events in Holland to happen each year, ensuring the legacy of the courageous men who fought there is carried forward for years to come.

Flowers have been laid at the Stone of Friendship Memorial at the Hartenstein Museum this morning.

The museum served as the headquarters of the British 1st Airborne Division during the Battle of Arnhem and the Stone honours the bonds between the Airborne Forces who came to liberate and the people of the Province of Gelderland.

Flowers were laid by the Regimental Adjutant of The Parachute Regiment, Major Paul Scott, and Glenn Schoen from the Arnhem 1944 Fellowship on behalf of the local people of Gelderland.

Commemorations marking the 82nd anniversary of Op MARKET GARDEN started last night at The Airborne Memorial, Heelsum.

This weekend, the bravery and sacrifices of Allied Airborne forces who fought in the Battle of Arnhem in September 1944 are being honoured at commemorative events and services of remembrance taking place across key sites from the battle.

The local community play a prominent part at events throughout the weekend, alongside current serving members of The Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces from Colchester.

Laying a wreath at last night's service on behalf of The Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces was Regimental Secretary of The Parachute Regiment Major (Retd) Adam Jowett, who was joined by Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy The Hague, Keith Allan.

The Falklands Riders are off! 🚴‍♂️

We have just waved off the group of cyclists as they make their way from Colchester to Arnhem ahead of this year’s commemorations.

The group comprises serving Parachute Regiment soldiers and veterans, as well as veterans of the Engineers and the Navy, many of whom served in Operation CORPORATE in 1982.
