Marking our 35th year of operation, Open Road are hosting an Anniversary Event in the historic Layer Marney Tower an afternoon of celebration, live entertainment, a fabulous charity auction and raffle plus the chance to hear directly from the people and families whose lives Open Road has helped rebuild over the last 35 years.

On Saturday 12 September, please join us for what is sure to be a memorable afternoon. Every ticket sold goes straight back into our frontline work; supporting our SOS welfare buses, our criminal justice and workplace wellbeing programmes, and family support across Colchester, Chelmsford, Clacton, Basildon, Harlow, Southend, Thurrock and Medway.

If you’ve supported Open Road before, worked alongside us, or simply believe Essex is stronger when people in recovery have somewhere to turn, we’d love to see you there. And if you’re looking for a meaningful way to support one of the county’s oldest recovery charities at a pivotal moment, this is it: sponsorship, auction donations, and table bookings are all open now.

Last day of Wilderness Festival and that’s a wrap, small shout out to just some of the big crowd of incredible volunteers who help run the tent here. We simply couldn’t run an operation like this without their support, kindness and enthusiasm. Hats off to everyone who’s been here on site, you rock 👒 🎩 🧢

We’ve been busy all weekend - 24hrs per day but always such a lovely bunch of people and staff that make the long days such a blast. Nice one too to all at on what’s been an incredible event & experience. 🥰

The Welfare Tent through Wilderness is here helping ordinary folk out with little things like sunscreen, ear plugs, plasters, and today hand delivered condoms 🍆 🎪

We’re also here for the big stuff too; when festivals get a bit overwhelming, you need a place to chill, and even reuniting lost children with parents. Drop in and say hello 👋 to our crew if you’re at this weekend.

Open Road is proud to be delivering the official Welfare Tent & Services at the Wilderness festival at Cornbury Park, Oxfordshire, from 30 July – 2 August.

It’s a brilliant opportunity to bring our recovery and support expertise to one of the UK’s leading boutique festivals, and a real testament to our teams, who’ve spent this week packing up the support minibus and preparing for a busy few days on site.

Huge thanks to our support and recovery staff heading out to represent Open Road and to Bell Tent UK - Camping with Soul for their help getting our canvas set up. If you’re at Wilderness this year, you’ll find us by the Medical Centre, opposite the Sanctuary, come and say hello, or find out more about our work.
