A little honesty from us tonight… ❤️

Running a rescue is exhausting.

What people see online is the posts, the photos, and the dogs finding homes. What people don’t see are the late nights, early mornings, emergency vet visits, behavioural work, exercise for the dogs, cleaning, feeding, transport runs, fundraising, paperwork, admin, home checks, and the emotional toll that comes with rescue every single day.

There are no days off.

No breaks.

No switch off time.

We are a small rescue run by people with full-time jobs, children, families, and responsibilities outside of rescue. One of our main admins is also caring for a newborn baby. It is half term, and despite that, myself I haven’t even had a single afternoon spare to properly spend with my own children because rescue always needs more.

Many of the dogs in our care are not “easy” dogs.

Some have come from horrific situations.

Some have behavioural struggles.

Some need rehabilitation, structure, training, patience, and time.

Some had absolutely nowhere else to go and would likely have faced euthanasia if our rescue had not stepped in for them.

These dogs are worth saving — but they are hard work.

Preparing these dogs for adoption takes huge amounts of time, dedication, emotional energy, and consistency. Rescue is not simply posting a dog online and sending them out the door within hours. We have to make sure they are safe, stable, and matched appropriately into homes that understand their needs.

Yet despite all of this, people still complain if a message is not answered within a few hours.

We receive constant messages, repeated questions already answered in posts, demands for instant replies, and criticism when we cannot respond immediately. Please remember that every minute spent replying to messages is balanced alongside physically caring for the dogs and keeping the rescue functioning.

We are only human.

We are trying our best.

And lately, the pressure has become overwhelming.

If you apply for a dog, please allow 3–5 days for a response. We have dedicated admin days in place so applications can be handled properly while we continue caring for the dogs themselves.

Please be patient.

Please read our adoption posts fully.

Please remember there are real people behind this rescue giving everything they have for dogs that many others gave up on.

Kindness costs nothing.

Patience means everything.

And rudeness towards our volunteers will not be tolerated.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support, understand, and stand by rescue. ❤️

🤍 PUDDING IS FINALLY READY FOR A 🏠 OF HER OWN🤍

3-year-old British Bulldog • Female • Spayed

Pudding is a beautiful, true-to-type British Bulldog currently in foster in Colchester and searching for her forever home.

✨ Quick facts:

• 3 years old

• Female, spayed

• Fully vaccinated

• Flea and worm treated

• Flat/apartment friendly

• House trained

• Children aged 10+

• Dog selective

Pudding has recently had corrective surgery for BOAS (to help improve breathing in flat-faced breeds) and entropion surgery, which corrects eyelids rolling inward and irritating the eyes. She has recovered well and is doing great.

She is a sweet, affectionate girl with so much love to give. A typical bulldog through and through — funny, stubborn, loving, and happiest when close to her people. She enjoys cuddles, lounging around the house, and short walks followed by a good nap on the sofa.

Pudding would suit a calmer home where she can enjoy plenty of attention and continue to thrive. She can live happily in a flat/apartment setting, as she is currently in a foster flat. She can be left alone for short periods but would not suit being left for long hours regularly.

She is house trained, although as with all rescue dogs, some accidents may happen while settling into a new home.

🐾 Other animals:

• Dog selective — she may suit a calm, respectful male dog after proper introductions

• She will chase cats, so only confident, dog-savvy cats who won’t run would be considered

👧 Children:

• Can live with sensible children aged 10+

After everything she’s been through, Pudding deserves a loving forever home where she can finally settle down and be someone’s best friend.

📋 Homecheck, proof of ID/address, and adoption fees apply.

Please complete an adoption application in full if you wish to be considered. ⬇️

🐾 Please welcome little Mouse to the rescue 🐾 🐭

Mouse arrived with us yesterday from the stray dog pound as an unclaimed stray. Sadly, she wasn’t microchipped, and although she still has a youthful sparkle in her eyes, we believe she is actually middle-aged to early senior in age.

This tiny girl weighs just 3.8kg and we believe she may be a Jack Russell x Dachshund cross.

We know absolutely nothing about Mouse’s past, but her little body tells us enough to know life probably hasn’t been very kind to her.

Mouse has a deformity affecting her lower jaw and lips, with part of her bottom jaw appearing to be missing and damaged. It also appears that part of her lip may have been traumatically injured, possibly from another animal, leaving her mouth sore and misshapen.

Some of her teeth are exposed and misaligned, and sadly her mouth is in an awful condition. She has severe plaque build-up, inflamed and receding gums, decay, and multiple rotten teeth that are loose in her mouth and clearly causing her significant discomfort.

She has tried to pick up toys since arriving with us, but you can see it’s uncomfortable and painful for her because of the condition of her teeth and sore inflamed gums.

Watching her try to eat is heartbreaking. She will often start eating, stop halfway through because of the pain, then try again a few moments later.

Despite everything she’s endured, Mouse is the sweetest little soul ❤️ she seeks affection and comfort from us all and she’s only just arrived.

Yesterday she visited the vets where she received her vaccination and microchip, and she is now being flea and worm treated. She is currently in assessment before becoming available for adoption.

Mouse desperately needs extensive dental treatment alongside her spay surgery, and we are needing to raise approximately £800 to cover her veterinary care and give her the comfort she deserves.

Rescue has been incredibly hard over the last few months. As a small rescue taking in dogs with complex medical needs, the vet bills have been relentless, but dogs like Mouse deserve their chance too.

So once again, we are getting the begging bowl out and asking for your help. Every donation, share, comment, and bit of support truly helps us continue saving dogs like this little girl.

💜AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - KAIA 💜

Kaia is a 2-year-old Border Collie x Whippet looking for an experienced and active home that understands the needs of intelligent, working-bred dogs.

She is up to date with vaccinations, microchipped, flea and worm treated, and will be spayed within the next couple of weeks following a recent season.

Kaia was surrendered into rescue after struggling to coexist appropriately with the resident dogs in her previous home, despite growing up with them. She can display quite a controlling nature around other dogs when boundaries and leadership are lacking.

Kaia could potentially live with another compatible dog, but this would need to be with a highly experienced owner who understands dogs displaying controlling behaviours within the home environment, including resource guarding tendencies and dominant behaviours around other dogs. Any existing dogs would need to be carefully matched, and introductions and ongoing management would be essential for success.

While Kaia can socialise appropriately with some dogs, she can become nervous and reactive in close proximity to unfamiliar dogs, so continued guidance and structure around dog interactions will be important.

Kaia cannot live with small animals.

She previously took part in beginner-level flyball and has some lovely foundations in place which could absolutely be continued in the right home. Kaia thrives when she has purpose, engagement, and an outlet for both her mental and physical energy.

She walks nicely on the lead and has good recall foundations established. However, as with many intelligent working-bred dogs, building reliability with a new handler will take time, consistency, and relationship-building.

Kaia is crate trained and settles well with routine and structure. She can struggle with separation anxiety if left without appropriate management and may become destructive, so continued boundaries and consistency will be important for her success.

In her previous home, Kaia developed some undesirable habits such as stealing items — particularly food-related items — and getting into things she shouldn’t. Since being with us and having clear structure in place, these behaviours have become far more manageable. Her future home will need to continue this management and set her up for success.

Despite her challenges, Kaia is a very affectionate and loving dog who genuinely enjoys human company. In the home, she is generally relaxed and companionable, while outdoors she is inquisitive, adventurous, and enjoys exploring her environment.

She absolutely loves a ball and enjoys interactive play and engagement with her people. Kaia is intelligent and eager to work, though she can occasionally be a little self-employed — something that responds well to clear guidance and consistent training.

Kaia is good with children and could live with dog-savvy children aged 8+. In a particularly experienced home, younger children may be considered.

Kaia is not suitable for a first-time dog owner. She would thrive in a home that enjoys training, adventure, and providing appropriate mental and physical outlets, while continuing to guide her with structure, leadership, and understanding.

In the right home, Kaia will make an incredibly rewarding, loyal, and fun companion for somebody who truly appreciates dogs like her ❤️

Home checks, proof of ID and address, and adoption fees will apply.

Please complete an adoption application to express your interest in Kaia.

Meet Mochi 🤍 - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

We are looking for a very special home for Mochi — one that understands her needs and is willing to give her the patience, structure, and security she deserves.

Mochi is currently in a short-term foster placement, which is why we are now searching for her adoptive home. This gives us the time needed to carefully go through applications and ensure we find the most suitable forever home for her before her foster placement comes to an end.

Mochi is a 2-year-old Boston Terrier with a loving nature and a huge personality. Once she feels safe and trusts you, she forms very strong bonds with her people and loves being close to them.

We believe Mochi may have had some difficult experiences in her past, which has left her with a few fear-based behaviours. Certain things such as hoovers, objects being picked up, brooms and mops, or sudden movements can make her feel overwhelmed, and she will react by barking or lunging when frightened. This is carefully managed at present with crate training, and slow desensitising training which will need to be continued.

Mochi also has a sensitive stomach which is currently very well managed with a strict controlled diet alongside daily pre and probiotics. This routine will need to be continued carefully in her new home, as stability and consistency are very important for her health and wellbeing.

About Mochi:
• 2 years old
• Boston Terrier
• Vaccinated, flea/worm treated, and microchipped
• House and crate trained
• Can live with other dogs, but only calm, stable, and confident ones
• Resident dogs must already be neutered/castrated and proof will be required
• No cats please
• Adult-only home required
• Breed experience preferred

Mochi can be mildly reactive to fast-moving small animals while out on walks, so a cat-free home is essential. And continued training is essential l!

Although she is friendly with children, we feel Mochi would thrive best in an adult-only home where her training, emotional needs, and ability to settle can remain the main focus.

She is an energetic and lively dog who can become overexcited quite easily, so she needs an experienced and patient owner who understands how to create calm, structure, and routine for a sensitive dog. With the right guidance, Mochi has so much potential to flourish.

Mochi is not currently confirmed as spayed and will be rehomed on a neutering agreement. We were previously told she had been spayed, however we do not have veterinary records to confirm this. Because of this, any resident dogs in the home must already be neutered/castrated, and proof will be required as part of the adoption process.

This is not a first-time dog owner placement. Mochi needs understanding, commitment, and someone willing to continue helping her build confidence and feel secure.

The right home for Mochi is out there — someone patient, kind, and willing to give her the safe and loving future she deserves 🐾

Please complete an adoption application to express your interest, Home checks, proof of ID and address will be required an adoption fee apply.

Meet Lock, Shock & Barrel 🖤🖤🖤

These three little black kittens arrived safely into our care this week at approximately five weeks old, and of course we couldn’t resist naming them after the mischievous trio from The Nightmare Before Christmas 🎃

They are currently settling into rescue and receiving all the care they need. As always, any donations of kitten food or litter would be hugely appreciated. These are on our Amazon wishlist ⬇️

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/ls/ref=mw_dp_wl_v?&lid=3SPNGV1Y4IPB7&ty=wishlist

We currently have a large volume of kittens within the rescue, and every donation genuinely helps us continue caring for them all.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to remind people just how serious the kitten crisis has become. Rescues, feeders, and finders of stray cats and kittens are all facing an overwhelming influx this year. Sadly, many kittens are being put to sleep simply because there is no rescue space available.

Please, please neuter your cats. One unneutered cat can lead to dozens of kittens being born, and rescues everywhere are struggling to cope with the numbers already needing help.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support the rescue, donate, foster, adopt, and share our posts — it truly makes a difference 🖤

🐾 EXPERIENCED FOSTER HOME NEEDED FOR BERTIE 🐾

We are urgently looking for an experienced foster home for Bertie, a 1-year-old Cavalier Cross Poodle, whose previous foster placement unfortunately was not the right environment for his needs.

Bertie has had an extremely traumatic start to life and was sadly facing euthanasia before vets reached out for rescue support. Since coming into rescue, he has been making wonderful progress, but he now needs a calm, experienced foster home to continue building his confidence safely and successfully.

Bertie struggles in busy environments and can find lots of people coming and going extremely stressful. He would benefit from a quiet, low-traffic home with minimal visitors and a foster who understands the rehabilitation process and will allow him to progress at his own pace without rushing him too quickly.

He needs a foster who is experienced with reactivity and triggers — somebody who is confident in managing behaviours appropriately, able to stick to a structured routine, and capable of maintaining clear, consistent boundaries to help Bertie feel secure and continue progressing positively.

Once Bertie feels safe, he is a loving little dog who enjoys companionship and routine.

Bertie can live with other dogs; however, they must be calm, stable role models with no behavioural issues, as Bertie can sometimes mirror behaviours from the dogs around him.

Ideally, we would love to find a foster-to-adopt home for Bertie so that he does not have to experience multiple moves and can finally settle into a secure, permanent environment where he feels safe and understood.

Bertie is castrated, and all veterinary treatment and supplies will be covered by the rescue.

We are looking for a foster home that can:🐶 Work closely alongside the rescue🐶 Follow the routine currently in place that is helping Bertie thrive🐶 Provide patience, structure, and understanding🐶 Manage nervous and reactive behaviours appropriately🐶 Offer a calm and predictable environment🐶 Maintain routine and boundaries consistently

Due to his nervous nature and reactivity, Bertie cannot live with children. He has not been cat tested.

If you believe you could offer Bertie the safe and experienced foster home he desperately needs, please complete a Foster application below answering each question in full

A huge thank you to the kind person who donated a large black box of toys yesterday 💛🐾

Neville was especially excited to see them. Neville is a poorly old gentleman who lives with a long-term, life-threatening condition that needs to be carefully managed. Because of his age and health, he will remain a permanent resident here at the rescue, where he can continue receiving the love and care he needs.

Dogs like Neville absolutely light up when donations arrive — especially when there are toys involved! Seeing his little face so happy truly means the world to us.

We would also like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donates food, dog supplies, soft blankets, toys, and other essentials to help our rescue dogs. Your kindness makes such a difference and brings so much comfort and joy to dogs like Neville every single day 🐶❤️
