The answer is false.

It's an important distinction for rider trainers to reinforce. Confidence and riding skills matter, but a bike can only perform as well as the tyres connecting it to the road. Poor tyre condition can affect braking, grip and control when they're needed most.

DVSA and NASP Quarterly Meeting: Key Updates for Driving Instructors

The DVSA and National Associations Strategic Partnership (NASP) met on 16 September 2026 to discuss shared priorities for protecting and developing the driving instructor profession.

Key discussion points included proposed changes to the ADI qualification process, the future of ORDIT, trainee licences, the standard check system and improvements to communication with driving instructors.

The meeting also highlighted the need for clearer guidance for prospective instructors, improved testing capacity and more effective engagement between DVSA, NASP and ADIs.

Plans include jointly developing a “Becoming an ADI” campaign, exploring a future ORDIT scheme and reviewing how the ADI Code of Practice is communicated and implemented.

Proposals for changes to the Part 2 test are due to be discussed at the wider car driver training and testing forum on 13 October. These remain proposals, rather than final decisions.
