In view of the hot weather, half term and many people are unable to come, we are cancelling tomorrow’s sit and stitch session.

Two members will be attending Dot Reed’s memorial service tomorrow.
Dot was a member of the group for many years and used to organise our trips to the Knit and Stitch Show. We send our condolences to her family.

Tuesday 14th session we had a glorious members focus, with the lovely and extremely talented Sue Sharp!
Sue was paralysed from the age of 26, but this hasn’t stopped her from creating the most stunning textile work, her embroidery is fabulous!

It was so lovely to hear her story and how her textile styles have developed over time, completing a city & guilds in machine embroidery and creating numerous pieces for projects and displays!

We were so spoiled with absolutely gorgeous pieces! Truly inspiring!
Thank you so much Sue 💖💖

Also some of the completed tiles from sewing day that a few of us did a few weeks ago, yet to finish mine, hopefully this week!

We really are a talented lot!

Thinking of joining us? We meet the second Tuesday of the month at Castle Methodist Church, Colchester, 10:30am £5 for visitors, or we have spaces for membership 💖💖

Last Tuesday some of the CETAG girls had a fabulous sew day, with the lovely Alex in her gorgeous studio at Marks Tey!

We had a whole day of sewing (a rare treat) and we started to create our tiles.

Learning lots of new skills, trying out new techniques and materials we each created our own tiles!

I had to leave a little early so I didn’t get any photos at the end but I’m hoping the girls from will bring in their tiles once completed and we can see them all together!

More Gimp needs to be added to mine along with some more machine sewing and then trimming to a tile shape before finishing the edges!

is the perfect teacher, kind, patient and with a huge depth of knowledge, her studio is stunning and her fabulous work adorns the walls! She’s really living a creative dream!

Alex has lots of fabulous workshops going on throughout the year, so take a look at her page! I can highly recommend it and there was delicious cake too!

Thank you Alex for a wonderful day and sharing a little slice of your world with us, it was magic ✨✨

Another fabulous session on Tuesday!

Very talented Sarah taught us a session on fabric bowls, these are created using a felt base, stitched into a bowl shape! The idea is they are slow stitched bowls, that evolve over time in layers.

Layered with fabric scraps that are first tacked in place, overlaid again and secured with kantha stitches and then finished with all sorts of lovely delights!

Buttons, ribbons, bows, puffs, lace and trinket things!

Everyone had a great time getting stuck in!

Looking forward to seeing the finished bowls! Everyone’s looks so different and the fabric choices used are so varied!

I love sessions like these! A beautiful bowl that is useful xx I’ll hopefully finish working on mine over the weekend once my cat has stopped using it as her bed xx 🪡🧵🥣🎀⭕️💖😻
