MFOB UPDATE
Salcott Challenge + RTBFTB Saturday 11th October.

We’ve had a tough time of it trying to get races in for the back half of the season, not one to curse it, but it’s looking hopeful that we’ll be racing the Salcott chalange without a named-storm breathing down our neck *at the time of writing.

We’ll also be raising money for MIND. The Salcott Buoy’ will be the buoy for Round the Buoy For the Boys this year. Fear not, the race will still be the same, there’s just a link to donate to worthy cause and a pot behind the bar should you feel inclined. *Link in Bio (feel free to share this post)

It’s a great race, arguably the best of the season and we hope to see as many boats out for it as possible.

We’ll wash it down at the DSC for a few after.

Summer cup, race two, tonight.

MFOBs racing to Tollesbury has been happening for decades. Something to do with the interesting sail there? Or the fact it’s the closest place you can sail to with a pub? Either way. This year’s Rum Cup is forecast to be blessed with wall to wall sun, 30 degrees and 15mph wind. All the ingredients needed for ‘Champagne’ sailing.

Our host, the WMYC are putting on a band and a good social for us to enjoy on our return which should all make for a very fine day.

The forecast is looking perfect for a Saturday evening sprint. The Solstice race will start from the Dabchicks line for a ‘round the cans’ race, finishing back at DSC. We are lucky enough to be host by Waterfront pizza for the evening for food drinks and prize giving.

Out of the Sixteen races this year, the two that aren’t creek-based are the notorious Green Man challenge, and the Radio Caroline raid. This race is one of your opportunities this year to really let your boat rip, stretch its legs and go some distance.

The race has a simple formula. One start, one mark. You choose which way you go around it. You choose how you get there. You choose how you get back.

The unstable weather this week is forecast to clear by the weekend with the warmest weather of the year lining up to make the Dabchicks Cup one to remember this Sunday.

Many more boats appear to have found their moorings and if the weather cooperates, we should have all the ingredients for great race on our hands.
