What a fantastic day! ⛳☀️

A huge thank you to all of the players and supporters who joined us yesterday for the St Helena Hospice Charity Golf Day at Lexden Wood Golf and Leisure Club 🏌️ With the sun shining, it was the perfect setting for a brilliant day of friendly competition, raising over £3,300 for our hospice!

We’re incredibly grateful to our event sponsor, Lanswood and host venue, Lexden Wood Golf and Leisure Club for their support in making the day possible.

Special thanks to our kind supporters who donated raffle prizes, including those in attendance, alongside Morrisons Harwich, Miller & Carter Colchester and David Lloyd Colchester. We also greatly appreciate the hole sponsorship from Thompson Smith and Puxon, as well as the trophies generously provided by Turners Service Centre.

A brilliant day with our fantastic teams from GYMS, Well Financial, Knauf Insulation and friends, Handelsbanken, Team St Helena, Mr.Wheeler and our local members.

Congratulations to all our winners and we hope to see you back on the course again next year! ⛳

There were lots of squeaks, baaaas, quacks and cuddles in the hospice garden today as we welcomed back and their fabulous flatpack farm 🐾

Patients, visitors, volunteers and staff enjoyed meeting the feathered, furry and scaly visitors, with smiles all around 🧡

The gorgeous creatures spent time with us in the shade of the trees chomping on the grass with plenty of water and treats.

What a lovely afternoon! Thank you Wellies On ⭐

"I really hadn’t had any sleep for I don’t know how long because he would be up in the night and fall over, I had to wash him and everything. I became his carer and he didn’t like it. He said ‘I don’t want my wife to be my carer’.

"I was trying to be strong all the time at home caring for my husband. It isn’t all dreadful; you get odd moments and you have to grab those at the time.

"When he was at home, I didn’t have any sleep at all, it was awful. I was always worried about what he was going to do. I ended up sleeping on the sofa so I was there if he needed me.

"I know how alone I felt at the time I was his carer."

Today we celebrated the wedding of John and Alison at the hospice 🧡

Occasionally in exceptional circumstances or emergency situations, teams across the hospice pull together last minute, often in their own time, to support a celebration for our patients and families. As a busy inpatient unit giving comfort for people at their most vulnerable time, we cannot accommodate every request, but when we do, we love sharing in the joy of the people we care for 🧡
