💙 A Heartfelt Thank You to Grassroots Charity 💙

We are incredibly grateful to Grassroots Charity for awarding Dream The Change a grant that will make a real difference to children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families in our community.

A special thank you to Sue Howes and all of the Grassroots Charity Trustees for believing in our vision and supporting our work. Your generosity will help us deliver adapted sports activities that provide children with opportunities to be active, build confidence, develop social and communication skills, and most importantly, have fun in an inclusive and welcoming environment.

This funding will also help reduce isolation for families by creating spaces where children and parents can connect, build friendships, and feel part of a supportive community.

Support like yours enables us to continue creating meaningful opportunities for children with additional needs, and we couldn't do it without you.

🎨☀️ FREE Summer Holiday Arts & Crafts Sessions for SEND Children! ☀️🎨

Looking for a fun, welcoming and supportive activity for your child this summer? Join us for our FREE Arts & Crafts workshops, specially designed for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

📅 When: 27th July – 7th August (weekdays only)
🕚 Time: 11:00am – 12:00pm
📍 Where: Wimpole Road Methodist Church Hall, Wimpole Road, Colchester, CO1 2DN

Each session offers a relaxed, inclusive environment where children can explore their creativity at their own pace while having fun and making new friends.

Activities include:
🎨 Drawing & painting
🦋 Dragonfly crafts
🧴 Sensory bottle making
🌿 Nature-inspired animal creations
🐘 Paper plate animals
🧸 Play dough fun
✨ And much more!

🥪 Free sandwiches, drinks, snacks and light refreshments will be provided.

💚 All sessions are completely FREE! Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

At Dream The Change, we're passionate about creating opportunities for children with SEND to enjoy fun, creative activities in a safe, understanding and inclusive environment where every child is welcomed and supported.

On 27th May, our families enjoyed a wonderful picnic at Castle Park. ☀️

It was a very hot day, but that didn't stop the children from having lots of fun! There was plenty of laughter, play, and opportunities for everyone to spend time together in a relaxed outdoor setting.

As a community organisation supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), we value opportunities like these that help children and families connect, build friendships, and create happy memories.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so enjoyable. We look forward to many more outings together!

On 20th May, our SEND families had an amazing time visiting the newly opened Clip n’ Climb Colchester 🧗‍♂️🎉

The children loved challenging themselves on the climbing walls, building confidence, having fun, and cheering each other on throughout the session. After all their climbing adventures, everyone enjoyed a well-earned pizza together 🍕

It was wonderful to see so many smiles, laughter, and families connecting in such a fun and supportive environment.

A huge thank you to Clip n’ Climb Colchester for welcoming our group and helping make the experience so enjoyable for our families 💙

On 9th May, our wonderful group of SEN families enjoyed a lovely visit to Blackbrook Farm 🐑🌿

It was such a fantastic day filled with smiles, fresh air, animal encounters, and the chance for families to relax and connect with one another in a welcoming environment.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special. We loved seeing the children explore, play, and enjoy themselves at their own pace 💙

A very special thank you to Blackbrook Farm for accommodating our group and making us feel so welcome throughout the visit — your kindness and support truly helped make the day memorable for our families.

In March, we had the pleasure of delivering Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) training sessions at Lexden Springs School over 5 consecutive weeks —and what a fantastic experience it was!

The sessions brought together dedicated school staff as well as parents of children with SEND, creating a really valuable opportunity to share perspectives, learn together, and build a stronger support network around the children and young people 💫

It was inspiring to see such strong engagement, thoughtful discussions, and a real commitment to building positive, trusting relationships. NVR offers a powerful framework that focuses on connection, de-escalation, and resilience, and it was great to explore how these strategies can be used in everyday practice.

A big thank you to everyone at Lexden Springs School for their warm welcome and enthusiasm throughout the training 🫶

We’re so pleased to hear such positive feedback and look forward to working together again in the future!

We had a wonderful time during the April half term at our Art & Craft session! 🎨✨

It was fantastic to see so many of our amazing children getting creative, exploring different materials, and expressing themselves in their own unique ways 💫

At the heart of what we do is creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive space where children with SEND can thrive, build confidence, and have fun together—and this session was a perfect example of that 💕

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a special experience.
