Already, Mersea Island Chess Group has gone on its break and after the week's AGM, Colchester Chess Club is moving from its club room to the main social club. Wivenhoe Family Chess sessions are being planned for school holidays.

The revitalised cafe on the Rec is shaping up nicely. Check it out soon if you have not yet visited. Of course, there are chess sets to use on the outdoor chess table. There is even ice cream for dogs who need a treat to recover from the park's dog exercise area.

Places to play chess in Old Heath, Colchester. The GO4 Café on the Rec has a chess set to borrow to use on tables inside or out.

Lots of kids enjoyed their first chess tournament at the Mayor's chess day in the Moot Hall on 21 February. Now, more chess for kids in a local tournament...

A couple of changes to 'where to play chess in Colchester' to announce: Following the Mayor's May Day chess at Level Best Enterprises, there are now chess sets there for customers to use. Also, while the cafe on the Rec is being refurbished, take your own chess sets if you want to play on the chess table there. This event is held in memory of Adam Hunt and Jonathan Hawkins, two much-loved members of our chess community who gave so much as players, coaches, and mentors. The marathon brings players, friends, and supporters together to honour their legacy and help others affected by cancer.
