🏆Winners of Awards This Season🏆
Players Player - Tansie Harper-Kerr
Tansie has lead by example all season, getting recognition from her team mates is thoroughly deserved. Captain fantastic has kept standards high in training and matches and leaves everything on the pitch. The Trophy is handed to each seasons women's players player in honour of our Trustee Dennis 'Nobby' Clarkes late wife Dorothy.
Dual Managers Players
Sally Burnford & Rachel Stones
Sally and Rachel have been part of our fantastic midfield unit. Sally as play maker and Rachel working box to box they have both been so influential to the teams success and are a joy to coach. Their efforts in and out of possession have been outstanding.
Young Player - Jasmine Kruse-Shorter
We are proud to have so many of last seasons under 16s move into the Women's team. Jaz has been one of the first names on the team sheet throughout the season. Her pace, stamina and strength combined with perfectly timed tackles have saved countless goals. She has played with maturity beyond her years.
Signing of the Season - Megan Hall
We started the season without a designated Goal Keeper and in those early games we had to twist the arms of outfield players to step between the sticks. Late November we found Megan and didn't lose another league game. She made a difference from her very first training session and our season wouldn't have been the same without her.
Most Improved - Amelie Taylor
Amelie had not played 11 aside football before this season and ended up being an integral part of the match day squad. A natural athlete she managed to improve every part of her game (even mastering the throw in) we wish her the very best of luck at uni. We know she will smash that too!
Captains Award - Natalie Baxter
Captain Tansie and Vice Captain Sally had the opportunity to reward a player they thought had stood out from their captains point of view. Nat's all round game and exemplary attitude and effort meant she deserved to take this award.
Golden Boot - Lexie Steadman
Lexie started playing football as a mini Rover, then Wildcat, Rovers Girls and this was her first season in open age football. She turned 16 days before the start of the season so probably the youngest player in the league at that point.
She smashed it, 24 league and league Cup performances and an incredible 52 goals! Scoring more than any other player in all 4 county divisions in those competitions!
Special mention - Helen King
Helen didn't start playing football until she was 42 years old. A true inspiration to anyone to get involved in sport no matter what your age or experience. Part of the defense she has had another great season, many more to come!
Clubman Cup - Hannah Bowden
Another inspiration and the reason our chosen charity for our sponsored walk was the dyspraxia foundation. Hannahs courage to come along to join the club and determination to keep going even when she finds things tough has been an example to us all.
Some sad news is Tegan has made the tough decision to stop playing after this season. Coming through from our youth ranks into her first season with the women's team we are gutted for her. Always a Rover. 💛🖤💛
A massive thank you to everyone at Stanway Rovers Football Club for supporting us for another season and Chairman Jerry Carter for attending the awards.
