Saturday 6th June 2026 - Charity Comedy Night

RWM Ian Stewart welcomed an array of comedians to the Lodge for his annual charity event in aid of the Tartan Talkers, a men’s mental health charity and 3 other local charities.

Everyone was entertained to the highest level with the headline act Rob Kane, Scottish Comedian of the Year finalist and BBC Scot Squad star, bringing the house down.

A great nights entertainment and very good value with 4 of Scotland top comedians, great buffet and some great Coltswood hospitality.

The night couldn’t have been pulled together without the RWM and his family covering the bar and setting up, WJW for his organising the event and last but not least PM Ian Wilson charing the evening, in his own style.

A cheque was presented to the Tartan Talkers for £500 on the evening with other cheques £100 to Maggie’s Cancer Care, £100 to Wester Moffat Hospital where PM Jim Roberts was looked after and £100 back to the Lodge funds for the use of the premises, these will be distributed in the next few weeks the RWM Ian Stewart.

Thanks to everyone who made he effort in attending and making this first of its type for the Lodge a success.

Our longest serving Past Master and a fine send off it was 🙏

“And you, farewell! whose merits claim
Justly that highest badge to wear:
Heav'n bless your honour'd noble name,
To Masonry and Scotia dear!
A last request permit me here,—
When yearly ye assemble a',
One round, I ask it with a tear,
To him, the Bard that's far awa.”

Past Master James “Jim”
Keir Hastie Roberts

Brethern it is with deep sadness we inform you of passing of the longest serving Past Master of the Lodge, Jim Roberts

PM Jim passed away peaceful at Wester Moffat hospital after his rapid deterioration in his health at the age of 93.

Jim was Initiated on 16th February 1961 at the age of 28 and served
Right Worshipful Master – 1967

Born in Glenboig he served in the Army as a Piper and arguable the Best Piper in the Lodge who always had a wee joke to tell.

In later life he was a great attender of the Church in Glenboig, and also a founder and very active member in the Glenboig Autumn Group. He was always very active at the dances and events including piping at their annual Burns Supper and latterly running around the village on his mobile scooter,

He will be a sad loss as the longest serving Past Master of this Lodge and also a stalwart of the Local Community

Deepest condolences from Right Worshipful Master Ian Stewart and the Brethern of the Lodge to Past Master Jim’s family.

Funeral details to follow.

PM Colin Campbell Almoner

Friday 9th May 2026 - Talk on the Social History of Rangers

A fine gathering of Masons and friends attended a fantastic presentation on the social history of Rangers Football Club delivered for the first time by David Mason David Mason, the Club Historian and writer.

RWM Ian Stewart and WJW Tony Thomson should be commended on pulling the evening together with the help of PM Ian Wilson who keep the night flowing with some good fun Irish Bingo and Red/Black to raise some great funds for the Lodge and Charity, over £680 to which a decision will be made on charity support at the next meeting.

The Brethern and friends then joined in a very insightful Q&A with David who have a great inside knowledge of the Club both past and present.

We would like to formally thank David Mason for giving up his very valuable time to come along and entertain and more importantly support the Brethern, friends and visitors for making the evening so enjoyable.

A fine evening at Lodge Coltswood Glenboig in which the visitors and friends were raving about this morning 🤝Well done RWM
