Evening FB friends and followers.

As you will all know by now the Church of Scotland has completed their Coatbridge Plan to merge 7 Churches down to 4 functional open budlings that are doing community work but only 1 actual Church providing weekly worship.

That Church will be the newly renamed Coatbridge Parish Church, working from what is until next week New St Andrews Church, Church St Coatbridge.

This Sunday will see all the remaining Churches and buildings provide what will be the last services of worship in their own buildings. A quick google search will tell you 'A church has stood on Blairhill Street in Coatbridge since 1892. A preliminary hall was erected on the site in 1878, and the main Gothic-style church structure was built in 1892/1893', The Boys Brigade Company was then formed in 1909 in the Church and with exception of the war years and re starting after both wars, has been a presence in the buildings.

The Company wish to have one final parade to Blairhill Dundyvan, one final time carrying the Colours of the 15th Coatbridge down Blairhill St and into our Church.

The Kirk Session have kindly agreed that while not a youth service and not to distract from the occasion, we will be allowed to present the colours and have them placed at the altar. At the end of the service they will be left in situ as a symbol of the Company remaining in the Church building, there will be no March Past or formal fall out.

We are clearly delighted that BD was chosen as one of the community buildings for Coatbridge, so yes the company will continue to grow and develop and alongside other organisations working from here we will do the outreach work on behalf of the Church.

If we can have all Boys and Leaders who are available, and I know plenty are already on holiday, please meet within Church halls for no later than 10.30am in full uniform.

Service is from 11-12 and the Kirk Session have put on some light sandwiches, tea and coffee afterwards which everyone is invited to attend. The plan is to march down from Lefroy St for one last time. Future parades and services will be at Coatbridge Parish Church.

Best wishes.

All our followers and friends please share and pass the word.

Many companies over the summer will have promotional nights as we all look to recruit and grow our numbers. This week it’s the turn of 15th Coatbridge. Please share the advert far and wide and share your own when the time comes.

Some of the Company were out for our last official event of session 2025/26. Our 3 Kingsmen were presented with certificates from Lanarkshire District Fellowship having completed the 2 year journey under their care and leadership.

Huge Congratulation’s again to Oliver, Kyle and Cameron on their magnificent achievement.

This week is Volunteering week across the UK. I saw something similar on another BB social media and thought it would be good to recognise our own efforts. Session 2025/26 took place over 33 weeks.

The preparation and the tidy up after are all included in those weekly figures.

Thank you to all our volunteers who give up so much of their time for the benefit of our Boys.

One last thought if volunteers received the Scottish Living wage, this would have cost £18,561 per leader to get these as a paid service.

Today marks the start of Volunteers' Week and we want to say a huge thank you to our 6,500+ volunteer leaders for all they do! 🙌

In communities across the country our children and young people are provided with opportunities to learn, grow and discover in a safe, fun and caring environment, which wouldn't be possible without the tireless dedication of our volunteers.

Keep an eye on our social media channels throughout this week as we'll be sharing stories from some of our volunteers of why they do what they do!

A week on from the Display we have finally found time to edit some pictures and remind everyone what a great night we had.

All sections were present and the highlight as always is being able to present 3 Kingsmen to their peers and family.

As our numbers grow we may look to split this night up, but for the staff the biggest thrill of the night is watching, we hope, 60+ envious Boys who are all saying 'I Want That'. As is always the tradition at 15th, The Kingsmen thank their parents (usually mum) with a large box of flowers in appreciation of the years they have pushed and cajoled them out the door to do the things most teenagers would walk away from. Voluntary Service in the community, Leadership tasks in the company amongst many other activities.

We said Goodbye to Mr Cullen tonight, after 25 years as the Anchor Boy Officer In Charge, Les has retired form the Company, and we wish him and Margaret a long happy and healthy retirement. The strength of our Company today can directly be traced back to a great and strong AB Section.

We also shared on the night the fact the Company Section won the year 2025/26 Airdrie, Coatbridge & District Boys' Brigade Battalion Challenge trophy. We think we kept it as a surprise from the Boys and we hope they are delighted that their hard work and tremendus efforts paid off. This is the 3rd year out of 4 and the Boys deserve all the plaudits. Well Done.

We promoted 7 AB to the Juniors and 3 Juniors to the Company Section.

Session 2025/26 may be officially over but we still have our summer program and BB camp to come. Spaces still available for Camp should anyone have a change of mind.

Have a great summer and roll on August.

Great slides from our friends at 8th Airdrie.

A huge thank you to all the families and friends who came along to our Display and Prizegiving this evening. Was wonderful to see a full house audience and everyone so appreciative of what all the Boys have achieved.

Slightly longer than we planned for but with so much to celebrate we hope it was enjoyable.

Have a great break for a few weeks and we will be in touch about summer programme as well as Scotland game at end of month.

Thanks, Staff of 15th Coatbridge BB.
