A big THANK YOU to our volunteers who could make it along for our little volunteer appreciation event today.
It was lovely to spend some time together and have some fun.
A big thanks to the staff who became volunteers to help out in their own time today - and a special thanks to John who was a great quizmaster!

Improving Lives is what it is because of our wonderful volunteers so once again - thank you for everything you all do.

We appreciate you!

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, and during Volunteers’ Week we’re taking the opportunity to share some of their experiences.

Our volunteer Natalie says “I like volunteering at Improving Lives. It gets me out into the community and gives me the opportunity to meet new people and help them in any way I can.”

If you’d like to find out more about volunteering with us, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re sharing some words from our volunteers this week about what volunteering at Improving Lives means to them.

Our volunteer Lorna says “Improving Lives is my comfort place. It gives me purpose, understanding, kindness and a whole lot of compassion. Volunteering here is my way of helping them provide support to people in the community who are also struggling.”

If you’d like to find out more about volunteering with us, please get in touch.

As part of Volunteers’ Week, we’re shining a light on the amazing people who give their time to support Improving Lives.

Our volunteer George says “Volunteering gets me out of the house and gives me something meaningful to do. It also helps me stay active and get some exercise. The best part is meeting interesting people and being able to help others.”

It’s Volunteers’ Week, and we want to say a huge thank you to every volunteer who gives their time, energy and kindness to Improving Lives.

Our volunteers are a big part of what makes our charity feel like a community. From helping with groups and events to supporting people through the door, every bit of time given makes a difference.

Our volunteer Shaun says "Volunteering has brought a positive impact to not just others but my own mental health too. By doing the walking group, we can encourage others to leave their homes and go walking - improving both physical and mental health. Volunteering can be quite rewarding as helping others is always good."

If you would like to volunteer at Improving Lives please email us at [email protected] or pop in and say hello!

This Volunteers Week we are celebrating the wonderful people who give up their time to help out at Improving Lives.
Our volunteer Kieran says "Volunteering for Improving Lives has given me the chance to connect with new people, introduced me to new opportunities and challenges, and allowed me to be part of something that can have a real positive impact on people’s lives. Not only has my volunteering helped others, but it has also helped me by developing my social skills, building my confidence, and encouraging me to step outside of my comfort zone.

Through volunteering, I have met people from different backgrounds, learned new skills, and gained experiences that I may never have had otherwise. It has shown me the importance of community and how even small acts of support can make a big difference to someone’s day. Seeing both myself and others grow, achieve goals, and feel included in something meaningful is incredibly rewarding and inspires me to keep going and continue doing my part. Knowing that I can contribute, however small it may seem, to helping people feel supported, valued, and connected makes volunteering a truly worthwhile experience."

No birthday is complete without cake! 🎂

Some of our staff and volunteers enjoyed a birthday treat at lunch time today as we continue celebrating 9 years of Improving Lives.

🥳 Today marks 9 years of Improving Lives.

What started as a small idea to make sure nobody faced disability, isolation or life’s challenges alone has grown into a charity supporting thousands of people across West Dunbartonshire.

Over the past 9 years we’ve built friendships, provided support when it was needed most and shared some incredible moments along the way.

Thank you to every volunteer, staff member, trustee, funder and person who has been part of the journey. Improving Lives wouldn’t exist without you and we will be forever grateful.

Here’s to the next chapter 🥂

We are so grateful for everything our volunteers do. There are plenty of different things to get involved in from advisory, cleaning, gardening, helping out with support groups, research, reception duties, stalls and social media.

Our volunteer Janice says “I find it rewarding volunteering for Improving Lives.
I enjoy helping people, even if that’s just making a cup of tea/coffee for our clients.
Volunteering has helped me build my confidence and also given me valuable experience.”
