A lovely opportunity this weekend to explore some of the rich history and heritage of Benburb, including self guided tours of the church and churchyard trail, along with guided tours of Benburb Castle on Sunday afternoon.

Well worth a visit for anyone interested in local history, memorials and the stories connected with our historic places.

There's a good reason The O'Neill's based their castle at the top of Dungannon! A strategic site where you could see the enemy coming - with panoramic views of seven of the nine counties of Ulster - the drumlins of Tyrone, Lough Neagh, the Sperrin mountains, the Mournes.

As part of a Mid Ulster Heritage Weekend our guides walked us through the site of the The O’Neill's power base at Ranfurly House and The Hill of O'Neill, Dungannon.

The Mid Ulster heritage weekend with participants from Donegal, Monaghan and Mid Ulster started by stepping back in time with Sarah, one of the O'Neill clan who welcomed us to Tullaghoge Fort and told us about life on the hill.
