There's a good reason The O'Neill's based their castle at the top of Dungannon! A strategic site where you could see the enemy coming - with panoramic views of seven of the nine counties of Ulster - the drumlins of Tyrone, Lough Neagh, the Sperrin mountains, the Mournes.

As part of a Mid Ulster Heritage Weekend our guides walked us through the site of the The O’Neill's power base at Ranfurly House and The Hill of O'Neill, Dungannon.

Free guided visits and speakers to share our ancient clans heritage!
We start Friday 17 April 2026 3pm with a tour of Hill of O'Neill then a workshop on how to get the best out of your smart phone photos before we have dinner.
Saturday 18 April 2026 A speaker on O'Neills & O'Donnells then Brian Sloan, Archaeologist who managed the excavation of Tullaghoge Fort shares what they found then takes us on a guided tour of Tullaghoge Fort. We end there at 3pm.

We have participants from Mid Ulster, Monaghan, Donegal and even further afield! Come along wherever you're from!

All guided tours, speakers, workshops, coach transport and meals provided.
