An individual in the Cotswolds has initiated a petition to the Government to “Pause housebuilding targets imposed on councils, review and identify local need”. If the petition gains 10,000 signatures the Government is obliged to respond.
If it gains 100,000 signatures, then the Government is obliged to consider it for debate in Parliament.
It has already achieved over 6000 signatures👏
Please show your support by signing the petition which is open until 30 September 2026. Thank you.🙏

We ask the government to pause housebuilding targets and consult local communities to identify where substantial house building is needed, not where developers prefer to build. We worry about developers appealing rejected applications and councils and communities often having no funds for a defence.
