We are a friendly community-based choir who meet for weekly rehearsals on Monday evenings, 7.45pm @ Kenn Methodist Chapel, Clevedon. We have a professional Music Director, Matthew Clark and accompanist, Richard Lennox. We sing classical choral music for our main concerts, but have a lighter repertoire for our Summer Choir. We welcome new members who enjoy singing as much as we do - no auditions!

It was a truly marvellous musical evening performing Mendelssohn’s Elijah with energy and, on a few occasions, real volume!

It is a bold and powerful piece which we worked hard to bring to life and were thrilled to earn a standing ovation from our lovely audience at St John the Evangelist Church, Clevedon as part of our spring concert last night (Saturday).

Particularly exciting were the baying crowd moments and heralding Elijah’s dramatic rise to heaven in a chariot of fire during a whirlwind.

Many thanks to our fabulous musical director Matthew Clark - Baritone, Conductor & Composer and accomplished accompanist Richard Lennox.

We had wonderful support from our visiting soloists William Stevens(Elijah), Thomas Mottershead, Nicole Boardman, Charlotte Newstead and Emma Downton.

Thanks Chris Emmerson: Photography - Music - Film for these amazing pictures in our new all black ensembles.

Now time to relax and take a few much-needed breaths before our summer season.

Stepping into the title role of Elijah at our concert this evening is bass baritone William Stevens - a singer and conductor who has a busy schedule on the operatic stage and in choral concerts both in the UK and abroad.

He enjoys singing a variety of comic and dramatic roles on stage including the title roles in Le nozze di Figaro and Sweeney Todd, Sarastro/Die Zauberflöte, Fasolt/Das Rheingold, Olin Blitch/Susannah, Nick Shadow/The Rake’s Progress, Superintendent Budd/Albert Herring, Dulcamara/L’elisir d’amore and numerous Gilbert and Sullivan roles.

He is very much looking forward to tonight’s role in the Mendelssohn masterpiece saying: “I can confirm the loud bits will be loud and the soft bits (mostly) soft. What a piece!”
