I was absolutely delighted to be presented with this most prestigious accolade by the Business Desk at last weeks award ceremony at the Leeds Armouries and to be named Yorkshire Ambassador of the Year 2026.

The best thing about this award is that you can't apply or be nominated but are selected by a panel of judges, the disadvantage is that you are totally unprepared!

I had absolutely no idea and was 'dazed and confused' when accepting the award and was totally speechless.

A massive thank you to the team at The Howarth Foundation for all their support and for the fantastic work that they do.

We were tickled pink when we heard that Howarths Foundation had, not only been nominated for a NATIONAL Award, but is one of 3 finalists in the category, Collaboration (Integration) Award, for the 3rd Sector Care Awards, with the overall winner to be announced in Birmingham on the 17/04/26 by Dame Esther Rantzen.

This award recognises ways of working in partnership with other organisations or services, achieving outcomes that would otherwise not have been achieved.

We don't do this job for acknowledgements or accolades but it is nice to know that others value what we do.

What's it like to be homeless sleeping rough on the streets with no access to toilets, shower, food or clean clothing, afraid of being beaten, robbed of your only possessions or arrested for not having a roof to call your own.

Would you be prepared to experience rough sleeping for just one night but in the safety of the Accu Stadium, Huddersfield.

Join The Howarth Foundation and the team from Huddersfield Giants Community Trust on Friday 10th October and help us to raise much need cash to support the homeless and underprivileged of Leeds and Kirklees.

t Howarths Foundation, we are in the final countdown for our fundraising charity football match -v- Supporting Charities Football Club on Sunday 17th August 2025 at West Riding County Football Association Limited Fleet Lane, Leeds LS26 8NX.

At last years event, we proudly exhibited our team mascot, Marcus who became so popular and sought after by the kids that we eventually, and with a heavy heart, had to raffle him.

This year, our Stephanie Shackleton, who nurtured and raised Marcus, has traced his troop and coaxed his younger brother, Marshall who has agreed to be Howarths monkey mascot for 2025.

Marshall is a brilliant playmate and so much fun around the office but our Carl Hedley is convinced that he is only here to compete for my job as CEO of the Foundation.

However, it is fair to say that we have already become so fond of Marshall that we are reluctant to let him go this year, unless it's to a good home and for value!

Please come along to support Howarths and our celebrity team and enjoy a great family fun day out.

The attractions on the day include, a tombola, children's pre-loved toy stall, preloved novels and craft stalls, sports memorabilia, bottle tombola, mystery envelope board, beat the keeper, ball through the hole, ice cream van, safe games area face painting and inflatables.

Heavy plant machinery display provided by OCU and Howard Civil Engineering plus a real life fire engine and crew courtesy of West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Pay bar and food available for the grown ups.

The Howarth Foundation is well underway preparing for the big kick off on Sunday 17th August when players from our Business Building Futures members (BBF) and Howarths, will take on Supporting Charities Football Club at West Riding County Football Association Limited, Fleet Lane, Woodlesford, Leeds LS26 8NX.

Today our Carl Hedley and the love of his life Becky were busy wrapping just some of our amazing raffle prizes, those on display are just an example of the fantastic prizes to be won.

A massive thanks to Hannah Simpson and her team at West Riding County Football Association Limited for supporting this event for the second year running.

Our dear friends and invaluable supporters OCU and particularly Dan Gautrey have really helped us raise our game this year and we are looking forward to the match celebrating the life of Dan's brother, Stephen who lost his battle for life to incurable and much misunderstood illness in 2022.

A big thanks also to Michael Howard and the team at Howard Civil Engineering for their long time continued support and for providing heavy plant equipment for the kids to explore on the day.

Bring the kids for a fun family day out, entry only £3 adults, £1 kids over 5 years.

Bouncy castle, face painting, craft stall, tombola, a real life fire engine and crew courtesy of West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, food available and pay bar for the grown ups.

All proceed to Howarths Foundation supporting the 'hidden' homeless into employment and or training.

Howarths Foundation -v- Supporting Charities Football Club

The team at The Howarth Foundation has just been up to the ground at the West Riding County FA, Fleet Lane, Woodlesford, Leeds LS26 8NX to sort out last minute arrangements for our charity fun day football fundraiser on Sunday 17th August 2025.

Gates open 12 noon, kick off 2pm.

We've planned out the grassed 'safe area' for children where there will be a bouncy castle, fun slides, three diggers, fire engine, face painting and much more.

For adults there is a pay bar, food available for as little as £5, raffle with some amazing prizes, bottle stand, tombola, free parking.

Photo opportunities with stars from Emmerdale and Holly Oakes and with Howarths manager the legendary Grayson former Leeds United and Huddersfield Town manager.

Please share this message especially if you live around Woodlesford, Garforth, Rothwell, it promises to be a great family fun day out supporting a worthwhile charity.

Entry fee payable on the gate £3 adults and £1 for kids over.

The Howarth Foundation's charity football match on Sunday 17th August 2025 at the home of The West Riding County FA, Fleet Lane, Woodlesford Leeds LS26 8NX, to celebrate the life of our late friend and colleague, Stephen Gautrey is fast taking and pace.

Thanks to the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, Stanningley we now have a fire crew and appliance coming along to exhibit a kids dream.

This is turning into a real family event with stalls, bouncy castles, face painting, raffle with fabulous prizes, food and licensed bar available on site, free parking, diggers and plant equipment displayed by Civil Engineering and Group.

This year The Howarth Foundation XI is managed by the legendary Grayson, former player manager of Leeds United and Huddersfield Town who will be once again taking on Supporting Charities Football Club featuring stars of Holly Oakes and Emmerdale.

Gates open 12 noon, kick off 2pm.

Entry £3 per adult and £1 kids over 5 years old.

All proceeds to The Howarth Foundation supporting the homeless into employment.
