LAST CHANCE for fully funded EV charger applications!

If you’re a member of an amateur sporting club fortunate enough to be located in Suffolk, then you might be able to get full funding for Electric Vehicle charge points.

This is a process whereby organisations meet their needs for goods, services, works and utilities in a way that achieves value for money on a whole-life basis in terms of generating benefits not only to the organisation but also to society and the economy, whilst minimising damage to the environment.

One of the things Eight Ash Green Cricket Club has decided to tackle this year is cutting carbon from the stuff we buy – mainly equipment and kits.

Fortunately, any club can now create their own and tweak it as many times as they like until it fits their needs – and for free.

One of the problems of being self-motivated by something is that you often forget that people might not be as keen as you. And so it comes to pass with sport or business, you have to motivate others to take action.

We’re trying gamification to do this, and are basing this year’s Carbon Champions programme on ideas from Yu-Kai Chou’s Octalysis framework. So all our projects are being shifted from a calculator that lasts a year to a game that lasts a decade. We’ll let you know how we get on!

Plug In Suffolk is part of the ‘Greenest Suffolk’ initiative and provides fully funded (yes, fully funded) community EV Charger sites across the county. It’s the sort of action every county should be taking to drive adoption, so well done to Peter Frost for getting this started.

We’re helping some of the county’s 91 amateur cricket clubs apply for the next round of 40 sites for two reasons. First, cricket clubs are frequently in the centre of rural communities. Second, my cricket club (EAGCC) needs EV chargers at opposition grounds to achieve Carbon Net Zero by 2030.
