📢 Important Notice for Local Residents: Upcoming Playing Field Maintenance 📢

Over the next few weeks, you'll see some patch repairs taking place on the local playing field. We are tackling areas of the pitch with holes and uneven ground to fix potential trip hazards and keep the space safe for everyone.

🌱 A note on watering:
We are fully aware of the current Anglian Water hosepipe ban. For the time being, sports fields are exempt from these restrictions where watering is necessary for maintenance. To stop the new soil from simply turning to dust, we do need to water these areas so the new seed can grow and knit the soil together.

Please rest assured that we are being incredibly mindful of the water situation. We will only be watering the specific patches where maintenance is essential from a health and safety perspective.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation while we work to keep our community spaces safe!

🔗 For more details on the hosepipe ban exclusions and exceptions, you can visit the Anglian Water website here:

🌸 Exciting news for the Clare Playing Field! 🌸

The wonderful volunteers from the Tree Action Society of Clare (TASC) are planning to plant six brand-new cherry trees along the roadside edge of the field!

Once they grow, they are going to look absolutely stunning and will provide a beautiful, blossoming welcome for everyone driving in and out of our wonderful town. 🚗

⚽ And don't worry about any stray match-day shots! The new saplings will be protected from rogue footballs the best they can with some nice, chunky stakes to keep them safe and sturdy while they establish.

Want to find out more?

If you’d like to learn more about the planting, the team will be at the Pavilion in Harp Lane on Thursday 4th June between 7:30pm and 8:30pm—please do drop by to say hello and chat about the project!

⚽️ IT’S A GOALMOUTH, NOT A SAND PIT! 🏖️

It was fantastic to see such a massive turnout for the Akky Cup yesterday! The atmosphere was electric, and seeing so many people cheering on our local players is what community sport is all about.

However, we noticed something a bit concerning. A few people were spotted with buckets and spades digging up the goalmouths on the pitches where the soil has dried out.

While we know it's tempting when the ground looks a bit sandy, we need to share a quick reminder: This is a football pitch, not a beach! 🚫🏖️

Why this matters:

• Safety First: These fields are used by children and adults alike. A small hole today becomes a trip hazard tomorrow.

• Injury Prevention: It only takes one hidden dip for a player to twist an ankle, tear a ligament, or worse.

• Pitch Maintenance: Our volunteers work hard to keep these pitches playable. Digging up the turf (even the dry bits!) makes it harder for the grass to recover and ruins the level playing surface.

We want everyone to enjoy the sunshine and the sport, but please keep the digging for the seaside! 🍦☀️

Let’s keep our pitches safe and ready for the next match. Please spread the word to friends and family!

✨ May the 4th Be With You, Clare! ✨

We might not have the Millennium Falcon touching down on the grass today, and the only "battles" in our sky are the local birds, but it’s still a stellar day to be outside! 🚀

It’s a Bank Holiday Monday, so why not channel your inner Jedi and head down to the playing field? Whether you’re bringing a football, a bat and ball, or just fancy a walk in the fresh air, it’s the perfect spot for some outdoor fun.

No lightsabers? No problem. Just bring your energy and enjoy the day!

See you on the field! ⚽️🏏☀️

🐾 A Huge Thank You to Our Local Dog Owners! 🐾

The Clare Playing Field Association (CPFA) wants to send out a massive shout-out to all our wonderful dog walkers.

We’ve noticed how hard you’re working to keep our fields clean, and it truly is appreciated!

Our playing fields are the heart of the community—a space where everyone can come to play, relax, and get moving. Whether you’re here for:

• ⚽ Football matches (where we want goals, not "surprises"!)
• 🏃 Morning runs and brisk walks
• 🧘 Pilates and T’ai Chi sessions
• 🧀 Extreme Competitive Cheese Rolling (haven’t seen it yet but sounds exciting!)
• 🪁 Kite flying and intense games of tag
• 🐕 ...and, of course, exploring with your four-legged friends!

With so many local children using the space for sports and play, keeping the grass clean is vital. Your diligence ensures that the only things our players are sliding into are tackles!

From all of us at the CPFA, thank you for being responsible owners and helping us keep Clare Playing Field safe, clean, and fun for everyone.

Keep up the great work! 🐶✨

📢 MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT:

The Future of Clare Playing Fields! 🏟️✨

We are thrilled to share some massive news! Following a successful grant application, Clare Playing Fields has been selected as the UK pilot site for the "Next-Gen Grounds" initiative.

We’re rolling out three phases of upgrades starting today:

Phase 1: Interactive LED Boundary Lighting

To allow for safer evening use during the winter months, we are installing low-profile LED strips along the main pathways. These are motion-activated and solar-powered, ensuring the fields remain accessible and eco-friendly without the need for intrusive floodlights.

Phase 2: Autonomous "Hover-Mower" Fleet

Say goodbye to the old tractors! We are moving to a fleet of silent, GPS-guided Hover-Mowers. These sleek drones use "Blade-Sync" technology to cut the grass to the exact millimeter required for optimum ball-roll. They operate 24/7 and are programmed to return to the pavilion for charging if they sense rain.

Phase 3: AI-Powered "Sentient" Goalposts

This is the big one! Our new goalposts feature built-in AI voice synthesis and laser-tracking. No more referee disputes—if a ball crosses the line, the posts will shout "GOAL!" in a booming voice. Even better, they use "Smart-Flex" technology to move 2 inches to the left if the AI decides the game is getting "too boring" and needs more scoring action!

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE: We apologise for any interference with your car fobs or pace-makers during the calibration phase this afternoon.
.Actually, we’ve just been told the WiFi signal on the pitch is too weak to support the grass’s ego, and the goalposts have gone on strike demanding better "cross-bar" benefits.

HAPPY APRIL FOOLS' DAY! 🤡

While we won’t have glowing grass or talking goals anytime soon, we can promise the same great (and very much analog) fields for everyone to enjoy this spring. See you down there! ⚽🌳

⚽️ Big News for Clare Playing Fields! 🌳

Hi everyone! We have some exciting updates to share with the community.

A brand-new team of enthusiastic local trustees has officially stepped up to look after the Clare Playing Fields! We are incredibly passionate about our local green spaces and are dedicated to making ongoing improvements to both the fields and the pavilion to ensure they truly serve our amazing community.

Making a Head Start!

We didn’t want to waste any time getting stuck in. If you were out and about this lunchtime, you might have seen us busy on the pitches! 🛠️

Our first priority was safety and playability. We’ve been working hard to repair the holes in the pitch, making the ground much flatter and safer for all the children and adults who enjoy a game of football here. Please let these areas settle for a couple of weeks before playing on them, unless you’re playing a match.

A Huge Thank You!

Community spirit is what makes Clare special, and we couldn’t have done it alone today. A massive shout-out and a special thanks to the Clare Town Lions Junior FC for giving up their morning to help us with the repairs. Your hard work is hugely appreciated! 🦁🙌

✨ Exciting things ahead for the Pavilion!

We’re also thrilled to announce that we’ll be starting work to spruce up the pavilion! Our goal is to transform it into a fantastic space available for hire—perfect for local parties, community events, and gatherings. Stay tuned, as we’ll have more info on how to book coming very soon!
