Humanitarian Operations

Humanitarian Operations ❗️1st RESPONDER DISASTER RELIEF AGENCY
❗️15 yrs of humanitarian assistance Ross.

Our central mission is to rescue lives, sustain human beings and deliver humanitarian aid. We started out providing assisstance through relief operations, but we are now expanding our reach. Humanitarian Operations started as a disaster relief agency in 2004 in response to the devastating impact of Hurricane Frances in The Bahamas. We successfully evacuated, fed, and airlifted 2000 people from the

West End in Grand Bahama using 3 helicopters and 1 aircraft, and succeeded with no casualties or fatalities. We have been operating at the site of every major hurricane in the Caribbean since 2004 and in the US since 2005. After the 2004 tsunami, we were operational in Sri Lanka in the midst of the ongoing civil war between the Tamil Tigers and the Sri Lankan government. We provided relief aid to people on both sides and provided evacuation services in Thailand, transporting people to safe housing. Together with our partners HOPE 3G and HOPE 5D, we are supporting the homeless population in the UK by providing brand new, clean, and suitable clothing. We will be keeping homeless people safe and warm and giving them a renewed sense of confidence to make positive changes in their lives. Hope 5D has pledged to supply us with clothing from their amazing collaboration with designer G.

With millions of children born with birth defects every year, conditions such as cleft palate are more common than you may think.

Children suffering with these conditions have long been subjected to teasing, name-calling and, of course, horrible stares – all because they look different.

Now more than ever, people tend to fixate on someone’s outward appearance to such an extent that they overlook the beauty that lies within every person. Can you imagine how it must feel to have people staring at you every day? Or how it feels to be rejected in this way? Sadly, that's the reality for so many children.

It’s so awful to think about that many of just block it out. But, at HOPE, we're determined to give these children a better, kinder future.

We have partnered with Italian designer Giovanna Kaka to launch a range of ultra-chic beanies, with all proceeds being used to fund reconstructive surgery for children born with physical birth defects.

Together, we can ensure that these children – like all others – enjoy the happy and full lives that they deserve.

Sadly, childhood isn’t always a happy time. From playground bullying to exclusion from the ‘in group’, children have a lot to contend with.

But, the awful truth is that some children have it even worse. Over 8 million children are born with birth defects, such as cleft palate, every year, and these children often face bullying and teasing on a huge scale. It's not hard to see how this sort of treatment could negatively affect a child’s mental health during their formative years when they ought to be building confidence.

At HOPE, we are passionate about helping children suffering as a result of birth defects live the happy and full lives that they deserve. We have, therefore, partnered with ultra-chic Milan brand Giovanna Kaka to launch a range of beanies, with all proceeds going to our campaign to fund reconstructive surgery for children sadly denied a strong start in life.

Why is it that animals that are born free in the wild are increasingly unable to live freely? Why have we turned away from the plight of those species fighting for survival for so long? And, most importantly, what can we do about it today?

The answer is: a lot!

When you buy a colourful beanie from our ethical brand Reka Wear – just like the one that HOPE supporter Maddison is wearing here – you’re making a statement that goes well beyond fashion.

That’s right, when you buy a beanie, you’re joining our campaign to change the fate of the endangered Black-footed Ferret.

Are you ready to make a change?

The Black-footed Ferret has survived an unbelievable amount of threats over the past 50 years – threats so severe that it has almost been wiped out. In fact, at two times in recent history it was widely thought that the Black-footed Ferret had actually gone extinct.

While there have been efforts to increase the population of Black-footed ferrets in their native USA, their number is still shockingly low due to ongoing dangers including habitat loss, dramatically decreasing their main food supply, and the emergence of non-native diseases.

Despite these worrying circumstances, it is still possible to reverse the fate of the Black-footed Ferret – but we must act now.

At HOPE, we’re determined to help these animals not only survive in the wild but thrive there. We’ve already made headway with our campaign by partnering with ethical brand Reka Wear to launch a range of colourful beanies with cool designs, with all proceeds going to Prairie Wildlife Research. Beanie sales will fund important equipment and technology for their projects, like Reintroduction, Monitoring, and Translocation, which aims to preserve the Black-footed Ferret and its natural habitat. But, if we are going to ensure this species is not lost forever, we need your help.

When you buy a beanie from https://buff.ly/3FxJEbu, you’re getting behind our movement to save the Black-footed ferret. What could be more meaningful than that?

While wild animals are born free, too few species are allowed to live freely.

Already considered endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the Black-footed Ferret has now come under threat of extinction.

As the species battles accelerating habitat loss and non-native diseases, fighting for survival in the wild, HOPE has joined forces with ethical brand Reka Wear to support the cause of the Black-footed Ferret.

Together, we have launched a range of colourful beanies with cool designs to not only raise awareness of the plight of the Black-footed Ferret, but to also help fund the campaigns of Prairie Wildlife Research, an organisation that stops at nothing to protect endangered species and strengthen their communities.

Help these endangered animals survive and thrive.

Did you know that Blue Whales experience many of the same emotions as us? From love to longing, happiness to hurt, these gentle giants are amongst the most sensitive animals on Earth.

Blue Whales show their love in so many ways. They are known to call out to each other, swim in pairs and nurse their young for seven months.

But, while the Earth’s largest animals are born free, they are increasingly unable to live freely.

No more than 25,000 Blue Whales remain on the planet and yet they are still suffering at the hands of poachers who make money from selling their blubber, body parts and even their oil.

At HOPE, we feel so strongly about the plight of the Blue Whale that we have thrown our weight behind Sea Shepherd UK’s mammoth campaign to save the endangered species from extinction.

We have partnered with ethical brand Reka Wear to launch a range of statement beanies featuring amazing Blue Whale designs, with all proceeds going directly to Sea Shepherd.

That’s right, our beanies are much, much more than just a way to stay on trend! 😎

Blue Whales, the sea’s friendly giants known for their loving nature and sensitivity, are under threat of extinction.

The sad truth is that there are no more than 25,000 left in the world.

They are suffering at the hands of poachers who continue to violate the worldwide ban on whaling, brought in during the 1980s. Over one thousand Blue Whales are killed every year by poachers who seek to make money from selling their meat and body parts.

Did you know that their oil, blubber and cartilage are used in pharmaceuticals and health supplements?

What’s more, Blue Whales fall victim to plastic waste, for which we are all responsible. Blue Whales, like so many of the animals that swim alongside them, get entangled in nets and lines, often succumbing to suffocation, starvation or exhaustion.

Did you know that these plastics can take hundreds or thousands of years to decompose?

Yet that’s not at all. Microplastics, plastic pieces of 5mm or less, are also a huge risk for Blue Whales. Believe it or not, the swimming costumes that we all wear when we go in the sea shed these tiny bits of plastic, which are then ingested along with krill or other prey while feeding.

In response to the mortal dangers that Blue Whales are facing – dangers which are only becoming more urgent – HOPE has launched a campaign to help bring them back from the brink of extinction. We have partnered with brand-with-a-conscience Reka Wear to launch a range of beanies with beautiful Blue Whale designs. With all proceeds from sales going to Sea Shepherd UK to help fund their mammoth efforts to save this magnificent species, you can be sure that you’ll be making an incredibly meaningful fashion statement.

If we act now, we can still save the Blue Whale.
