We had a very lively night at the Cirencester Phoenix WI October meeting.

We welcomed Andy Fowler and his African drums and the ladies were absolutely delighted as Andy led us through the techniques of building up a rhythm, 🪘and learning how to play on different African dums from west Africa and North Africa 🪘 and even ending up a couple of ladies dancing along as we played with belly dancing music 😲

Overall a highly enjoyable evening, Andy had us playing for over an hour and we are now all much more rhythmic 🪘😀🥁

A night we won't forget, thank you Andy

Welcome to Autumn! Astronomical autumn has officially started after the equinox took place in the early hours of Wednesday.

It happened at 01:06 BST on 23 September, according to Royal Museums Greenwich.

It is a precise moment in time when the Sun crosses the celestial equator and neither hemisphere is tilted towards or away from the Sun, meaning day and night are roughly equal in length across the world.

While the equinox itself cannot be seen, the day has cultural and spiritual significance for some people. Gatherings took place at sites including Stonehenge, where people came together to mark the occasion and watch the Sun rise.
