This was spearheaded by a journalist, Stephen Oryszczuk, new to the area, who had decided to write a script on his train journeys to/from London every week. A comedy took shape based on the characters and politics of his new village life called "Walking the Dog". This was performed with great success and Stephen has gone on to write subsequent comedies such as "The Act Off", "Killing Elsa" (music
al comedy about the right to die debate), "The Jungle Book" (Musical comedy with a 60s feel) and now we are performing "Bye George" which is a comedy about grief. One year we did perform an Agatha Christie drama. What has characterised the Players, however, was that from the beginning we have sought those with zero or near-zero experience to get up on stage alongside trained thespians and old hands. This is still the case and we offer a welcome to those that want to take part but not had the opportunity before. We usually have 4 performances (Thursday, Friday, Saturday evenings at 7.30 with a matinee at 2.30 on the Saturday). Our current dates for "Bye George" are Thursday 31 March, Friday 1 April, Saturday 2 April 2022. Due to covid this production has a two-year delay but is totally ready to entertain the people of the Teign Valley once again. Tickets are 8 pounds and are available on the door. Best get there a bit early to make sure you get a seat. We hope you enjoy it, and hope you come along to our next auditions in September. Other than pride, dignity, time, social standing and sanity, what have you got to lose?
