He was one of Nelson’s ‘band of brothers’ and is perhaps best remembered for his actions during the Battle Of The Nile (1798), the Siege of Malta (1798 -1800) and being Civil Commissioner of Malta from 1802-1809.

At around this time (1:15pm) on the 21st of Oct 1805 he was mortally wounded by a musket ball.

By days end the Royal Navy under Admiral Nelson had decisively defeated a combined French and Spanish fleet under Admirals Villeneuve and Gravina.

Grant is famed as Wellington's most valued intelligence officer.
