Our story
171 (Christchurch) Squadron is Royal Air Force Air Cadet unit based in the heart of Christchurch, Dorset. Our aim is to provide aviation minded teenagers between the ages of 12 and 20 unique opportunities to help them gain experience for use in later life.
We are sponsored by 22 Group RAF but we are staffed entirely by local volunteers. Some are ex cadets through the years some are retired RAF personell, some are still serving RAF personell some are just drawn to us through the ethos of what we do.
We meet at the squadron Mondays and Thursdays between 7 and 9.30PM where we teach various aeronautical subjects, navigation and expedition skills, Fieldcraft, Marching Drill, Marksmanship principles and many other outward bound activities offered off Squadron. Duke of Edinburgh Award
