💚This World Homelessness Day, remember the person, not the label.
Behind the words homeless person is a human being.
Someone’s son or daughter. Someone’s friend.
Someone who has experienced loss, trauma, poverty, relationship breakdown, poor mental health or simply circumstances that have become too difficult to navigate alone.
At Reach Out to the Community, we see the person first.
We’re a small, independent charity based in Chorlton, supporting people experiencing homelessness & poverty across South Manchester.
Through our outreach work, food bank and the support we provide alongside our partners, we try to make sure that people aren’t forgotten or left to face the streets alone.
Our charity shop plays a huge part in making this work possible.
Every donation, every purchase and every volunteer hour helps us continue reaching people who need support.
We’re also proud to work alongside organisations across the Manchester Homelessness Partnership, including through joint outreach. Because homelessness is complex and helping people move away from it takes compassion, persistence and a community working together.
Homelessness can happen to anyone. It does not define who they are.
This Saturday, on World Homelessness Day, we’re asking you to look beyond the label.
See the person.
Hear their story.
Treat them with dignity.
And where you can, help.
To everyone who supports Reach Out to the Community our volunteers, donors, charity shop customers, partner organisations and the wider community thank you.
You help us keep showing up.
And to everyone we support: you matter. You are not forgotten.
